HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-02-14-Regular Minutes139 February 14,1977 The regular council meeting was held on February 14,1977 with Mayor Boone presiding and all councilmen present except Hugh Grandfield. Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,to approve minutes as read. Carried 4 to O. Present at this meeting was Leonard Dolmage,Dennis Dolmage,Bill Giles,and Jim Berner of Bishop Engineering.Leonard Dolmage requested to buy water from the City of Waukee.He would install his own line at City specifications.After a lengthy discussion,the council stated they would want to make a study and report back to Dolmage in 2 months. Dennis Way met with the council regarding a game room on his property on 6th Street and requested a pool table permit.Moved by Larson, second by Gruber,to approve the pool table permit.Carried 4 to O. Moved by Thompson,second by Gruber,to grant The Old Bank a liquor permit,pool table permit and cigarette permit with proper application to city clerk.Carried 4 to O. Rod Davis and Dan Gardiner made their presentation of the city audit. Moved by Gruber,second by Copeland,to receive and file the audit. Carried 4 to O. The council received bid from the State dispatcher for a new police car---Pontiac LeMans--$4697.89 and a Dodge Monaco at $4600.21. These two were the low bids and were police package bids. Moved by Copeland,second by Gruber,to pruchase the Dodge Monaco at $4600.21.Carried 4 to O. Moved by Larson,second by Thompson,to grant Casey's General Store a beer permit.Carried 4 to O. The City of Waukee Title VI public service funds for a policeman has been approved from March 1st to September 30 at $833.00 per month. Moved by Thompson,second by Copeland,that when the funds are available to hire a policeman and when the funds expire,this position would be terminated.Ya--Thompson,Copeland.Nay--Larsen,Gruber.Mayor Boone voted Ya to pass the motion. Moved by Gruber,second by Larson,that the following salaries be established for year 1977--Remo Nizzi--$1300.00 per month,Harry Jones-- $965.00 per month,Delmar Boll--$885.00 per month,Curtis Scott--$885.00 per month,Richard Romine--$865.00 per month,Ron Vest--$835.00 per month, Robert McLaughlin--$800.00 per month,Hannah Weil--$430.00 per month, Ann Ford--$430.00 per month,Donna Gorsuch--$390.00 per month,Dale Boone- $250.00 per month,C W Robison--$250.00 per month,Paul Huscher--$200.00 per month,John Felton--$4.50 per hour plus l5¢per mile. --_.._- February 14,1977--cont The City council discussed a larger water tower to help the rates for the city.A 200,000 gallon tower was discussed. get further facts and report back to council. Congregate meals at noon for the City of Waukee and the surrounding community can be started if so desired.It was unanimously agreed by the council to use the fire station for this purpose if this is a demand. insurance Clerk to Eugene Franks requested permission to hook up to the City water for his farm south of the lagoon.Tentative approval was given by the council. Recreation,such as tennis courts,was discussed by the council. No action taken at this time.Ron Larson to get further information. The police report was given by Ron Vest. Meeting adjourned. Moved by Grandfield,second by Thompson,to have a hearing on the budget on March 7,1977 at 6:00 p.m.and instructed clerk to publish same. Moved by Thompson,second by Grandfield,to have a hearing on Revenue Sharing at 4:30 p.m.on March 7,1977 and instructed clerk to publish same in the Dallas County News. Meeting adjourned. Mayor March 7,1977 The Waukee city council held a special meeting at 4:30 p.m.on March 7,1977 for Revenue Sharing as published in the Dallas County News. No objections were filed.
