The regular council meeting was held July 18,1977 with Mayor
Boone presiding and all councilmen present except Luke Gruber.
Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,to approve minutes as
read.Carried 4 to O.
Merle Rees met with the council regarding different problems
wi thin the ci ty .
Moved by Grandfield,second by Copeland,to hire Engineer Henry
Oakes to draw up plans and specs for the new water tower.Carried
4 to O.
Moved by Grandfield,second by Copeland,to designate the parcel
of ground at the south end of 3rd Street as the site for the
water tower and park ground being the 2nd choice site.Also
authorization was given to drill for soil samples at this location
on 3rd Street.
Moved by Larson,second by Thompson,to name R G Dickinson &Co
of Des Moines for financing the water project at a cost of 17,%
of project.Carried 4 to O.
Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,to have Engineer Oakes
draw up plans and spec to bid as following:500,000 Hydro
Pillar,1,000,000 Standpipe and 500,000 spherical tank.
Carried 4 to O.
Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,to sell water to local
trade area,not to exceed 1000 gallons.Carried 3 to I--
Grandfield voting no.
Moved by Larson,second by Grandfield,to pay ClRALF 1st quarter
payment in amount of $118.28.Carried 4 to O.
Mayor Boone appointed Hugh Grandfield and Harry Copeland to
represent Waukee at the county meeting concerning the new land
use bill.
The council unanimously appointed Dave Jordan as full time police
officer at $800.00 per month effective July 1,1977.Carried
4 to O.
The city council to meet with the trustees of Walnut &Boone
townships regarding the study completed by Gardiner &Co
regarding future growth for the City of Waukee.
