HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-01-09-Regular Minutes160 January 9,1978 The regular meeting of the Waukee city council was call to order by Mayor Bernard Boone with the following councilmen present:Gruber, Grandfield,Copeland,and Thompson.Absent:Larson Moved by Thompson,second by Copeland,to approve minutes as read. Carried 4 toO, Moved by Copeland,second by Grandfield,to adjourn and being that no old business to come before the outgoing council,this part of the meeting be adjourned and form the new council.Carried 4 to O. Meeting adjourned, Acting clerk,Remo Nizzi,call the meeting to order and answering the roll call were the following elected councilmen:Luke Gruber,Dennis Thompson,Hugh Grandfield,Harry Copeland,and Robert Heddinger,and Mayor-elect Bernard Boone. Clerk Nizzi gave the oath of office to Mayor-elect Bernard Boone and the fo1oowing councilmen:Hugh Grandfield,Luke Gruber,Rarry Copeland, Robert Reddinger,and Dennis Thompson,all duly elected and qualified for these offices.The meeting was turned over to Mayor Bernard Boone. Mayor Boone called the meeting to oreer and all councilmen were present. Mayor Boone appointed Rugh G~andfie1d as mayor pro tern. Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,to reappoint Paul Huscher as city attorney at a salary of $225.00 per month.Carried 5 to O. Moved by Cope1wnd,second by Grandfield,to reappoint all present police officer at the following salaries:Curtis Scott--$945.00 per month,Richard Romine--$935.00 per month,and Robert McLaughlin and David Jordan at $880.00 per month.Carried 5 to 0, Moved by Grandfield,second by Gruber,that Delmar Boll and Harry Jones be reappointed at salaries of $1000.00 per month.Carried 5 to O. I Moved by Heddinger,second by Copeland,that all office help be reappointed at the following salaries:Hannah Wei1--$450.00 per month,Ann Ford-- $450.00 per month,and Donna Gorsuch at $410.00 per month.Carried 5 toO. Moved by Robert Reddinger that 2nd Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at city hall will be the time and place set for council meetings. Carried 5 to O. Moved by Copeland,second by Reddinger,that Brenton Bank be named as the depository bank.Carried 5 to O. Moved by Grandfield,second by Copeland,to name AID Insurance on Security bond.Carried 5 to O. Moved by named as Gruber,second by Tho th h .mpson,at t e fo11ow~ng newspaper be the official paper:Dallas County New with alternate being I {181Register&Tribune.Carried 5 to O. Moved by Copeland second by Thompson to re-appoint Remo Nizzi,Clerk- Administrator and Dir.a£pub~ic Works.at $1400 per month.Carried 5to O. Moved by Reddinger,second by Copeland,that city the City of Waukee be allowed their water bills. Gruber and Grandfield voting no. Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,to reap~oint administrative officer for building permit at $5.00 Carried 5 to O. employees living in Carried 3 to 2-- John Felton as per hour. Moved by Copeland,second by Grandfield,to issue credit cards to police for telephone calls pertaining to city business.Carried 5 to O. The council discussed equipment needed by the city for the following year:3/4 ton pickup and tractor and snow plow for the maintenance department. The council discussed the SSES study that DEQ is requlrlng from the city.An engineering firm will be interviewed on the 23rd of January concerning this matter. Moved by Copeland,second by Grandfield,to reappoint Remo Nizzi as ClRALG representative with Bernard Boone as alternate.Carried 5 to O. Future projects were discussed by the council but no priorities were given:Streets,annexation,new water filter and larger water lines, feasibility of selling water outside the city limits,24 hour police coverage and upgrading our zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan. Meeting adjourned. &)40~dJfj~t or January 14,1978 A special meeting wa sheld on January 14,1978 with Mayor Boone presiding and all councilmen present. This meeting was called to discuss personnel. Dale Boone's service was terminated as of January 12,1978. Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,that C W Robison reappointed at a salary of $4000.00 per year.Carried 5 to O. ~Rules and regulations for the Waukee Police Department: 1.Emergency calls to go out of the City of Waukee must be dispatched by the Sheriff's office only (emergency only). 2.All officers will leave car and office in orderly conditions. 3.All purchasing will be made by purchase order by the city admj~istrator onl~.U ,4.Gas rill be r2tated each month to the 3 st\tions.Day lilf'm wid see -\ \that all cars Iare -full f b 4 00 'I.'"-~~0 gas y :and 0heck oil and tires also.!
