Mayor May 15,1978 The Waukee City council held a special hearing on May 15,1978 as published in the Dallas County News.This hearing was for the up- grading of the Waukee Zoning Ordinance and the 1990 Comprehensive Plan. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Boone and the following councilmen were present:Hugh Grandfield,Harry Copeland,Robert Heddinger,Dennis Thompson,and Luke Gruber. There was no written objections.Moved by Grandfield,second by Thompson,to have first reading of Ordinance.Carried 5 to O. Bill Inman,Jr.asked for R-3 zoning along 4th Street and also for 350 ft wide going east along the railroad.He also asked for R-4 zoning for the 40 acres on the corner of Highway 6 and East St. Moved by Copeland,second by Heddinger,to approve,receive and file the 1990 Comprehensive Plan.Carried 5 to O. Ron Olson met with the council regarding his bulk plant along Highway 6. The council also discussed C-l from Laurel St north to Highway 6. The next hearing will be May 23,1978 at 6:30 p.Ill.at city hall. Moved by Gruber,second by Copeland,to sponsor Red Cross swimming lessons at Adel.Carried 5 to O. Moved by Heddinger,second by Gruber,to sponsor the Middle School Clean-Up Day.Carried 5 to O. Meeting adjourned. Mayor May 22,1978 A special meeting was held on May 22,1978 for the second reading of the updated zoning ordinance.The meeting was called to order by Mayor Bernard Boone and the following councilmen were present: Harry Copeland,Robert Heddinger,Hugh Grandfield,and Dennis Thompson.Absent:Luke Gruber. ~/Moved by ~opeland,second by Thompson,to read the updated zoning ordinance for the second time.(}arried 4 to O. 173 May 22---cont Bill Inman and Joe Brick asked that the zoning along the railroad 350 ft south and approximately 3000 ft east be changed to R-3. The next and last reading of the updated zoning ordinance will be held on June 12,1978 at 7:30 p.m.at the city hall. Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,to approve the 1979 Street Construction program and submit report to state.Carried 4 to O. Moved by Copeland,second by Reddinger to approve the low bid of Dallas County Implement for a 950 John Deere tractor and Woods mower for $5280.00.The other bids were Story County Implement at $5700.00 and Des Moines Implement Co at $5376.00.Carried 4 toO. Meeting adjourned. Mayor June 12,1978 Regular council meeting was held on June 12 at the city hall with Mayor Boone presiding and all councilmen present except Grandfield. Moved by Copeland second by Gruber to approve minutes as presented. Carried 4 to O. A petition with 174 signatures was presented to the council and so stated;"We,the undersigned,residents of Waukee object to proposed 13 additional apartments proposed by Inman Realty." Moved by Reddinger,second by Gruber to receive and file petition. Carried 4 to O. Approximately 50 people attended this meeting. Meeting was the council's regular meeting and also the 3rd reading for the Waukee updated zoning ordinance and Waukee 1990 Comprehensive Plan. Inman Realty had requested zoning changes as follows:Along 4th St. from Laurel street south to Northwestern railroad and thence 370' changed from R-2 to R-3 also 370'north of the railroad from 4 st to East st from R-2 to R-3.Also a change to R-4 for 40 acres on the corner of Rwy 6 and East st. These proposed changes brought many comments in opposition from the citizens attending the meeting. The following are changes from the original may presented by Waukee Planning &Zoning to the city council. Moved by Gruber second by Reddinger to rezone along 4th st from Laurel st south to Northwestern railroad and thence east 370'to R-3 from
