HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-02-23-Special Minutes186 February 20--cont The meeting was turned over to Henry Oakes for discussion of storm sewer-- Ashworth &5th St,8th St,7th St,and 1 section of 9th St.Estimated cost-- Ashworth &5th--$20,000--7th St--$55,000-.--9th &8th St---$173,000.The council received preliminary plans from Oakes and filed.Clerk instructed to contact Jack Sparks reference bonding of project. Officer Vest reported that the new police car will be delivered approximately the week of March 5. Larry Oetting wanted explanation of stages of storm sewer.Council explained to guests the stages of proposed project. Salaries for city employees were discussed by the council.Also yearly rehiring was discussed. Kenn Spahr asked if there was a police chief. Motion made by Gruber,second by Thompson,to ask attorney Paul Buscher to research proposed personnel and administrative changes.Carried 4 to O. Motion by Grandfield,second by Copeland,to approve recommendations of committee for above salaries.Carried 4 to O. Robert Gallagher wanted to know about appointment of administrative officer and pending vacancies on P &Z. Motion by Gruber,second by Thompson,to approve beer permit for Casey's General Store.Carried 4 to O. County meeting to be Thursday,March 1 at 8:00 p.m. Meeting adjourned. Mayor February 23,1979 The Waukee city council held a special meeting on February 23,1979 regarding the city budget.They met to consider and approve for filing and publication,the proposed budget for the ensuing year.A quorum was present. A liquor licence for Andy's Pizzarena under new owner,Dennis Dale Boulecault, was approved.He had all necessary papers to file. Mayor Meeting adjourned. March 1,1979 Mayor Bernard Boone,Councilmen Grandfield,Gruber &Thompson and administrator Remo Nizzi attended a county wide meeting at Adel.The purpose of this meeting was to decide whether to form a county organization.The eight (8) communities present gave approval to form a county wide organization.Remo Nizzi was appointed temporary chairman.Next meeting to be held March 29 at Adel city hall,to set up By-laws and Constitution.The main purpose of such an organization is to be able to serve our communities better by joining together for dog control building inspection,solid waste,emergencies, etc.. Mayor Mayor 6,1979 A budget hearing was held on March 6,1979 with Mayor Boone presiding and councilmen present were:Harry Copeland,Robert~Heddinger,and Hugh Grandfield Absent:Dennis Thompson and Luke Gruber. ,Notice of this budget hearing was published in the Dallas County News as required by law.
