HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-04-09-Regular Minutes---~--------------------------~.----.-------- The regular council meeting was held on April 9,1979 with Mayor Boone presiding and the following councilmen were present:Gruber,Thompson, Heddinger,and Copeland. 192 April 9,1979 Moved by Thompson,second by Copeland,to approve minutes as mailed. Carried 4 to o. Moved by Copeland,second by Heddinger,that the following resolution be adopted: WHEREAS,Rugh Grandfield,one of our city councilmen passed away on April 2,1979 and WHEREAS,the City of Waukee will miss his services,therefore BE IT RESOLVED,that the City council expresses sympathy to his family and expresses its gratitude for services to the City on behalf of all citizens. Ron Vest gave the police report. Moved by Reddinger,second by Thompson that any citizens of the City of Waukee that is interested in the council seat vacancy should call or write the city administrator and give his or her name by April 30.The names will be forwarded to the council and appointment made at the next regular council meeting on May 14.Carried 4 to O. Moved by Copeland,second by Gruber,that the following resolution be adopted: NOTICE OF SALE OF BONDS RESOLUTION Sealed bids will be received until 5:00 p.m.on the 30th day of April, 1979 at City RaIl,Waukee,Iowa,for the purchase of $125,000 General Obligation Water Bonds of the City,at which time they will be presented to the Council at its meeting to be then held at City RaIl,Waukee,Iowa, and after the receipt of open bids the bonds will be sold to the best bidder for cash. Motion carried 4 to O. Moved by Reddinger,second by Copeland,to approve cigarette permit for Waukee Drug.Carried 4 to O. May 11,1979 will be Clean-Up Day for the City of Waukee. Moved by Gruber,second by Reddinger,to allow $850.00 for fireworks for the 4th of Judy.Carried 4 to O. Moved by Gruber,second by Reddinger,to approve swimming program at Adel for this year.Carried 4 to o. Vacancy on P &Z was discussed by the council.A decision will be made as soon as a new councilman is appointed. 193 April 9,1979--cont Attorney for Judy Ann Estates was present at this meeting and stated that all utilties would be placeor bonds presented before asking for approval of final plat--also certificate would be presented. Mayor Boone was appointed representative to county association. Street projects were discussed by the council but was tabled until a later date. Purchase of snow plow and chip spreader was tabled. Meeting adjourned. ClerkMayor ~ril 30,1979 A special meeting was held on April 30,1979 with Mayor Boone presiding and all councilmen present. This meeting was held for the purpose of selling $125,000.00 GO water storage bonds.Bids were as follows: Shaw-McDermott Carleton Beh Co Eowa-De s Moines 5.8122 5.9186 6.002 Clean Up day has been changed to Friday,May 18,1979. Moved by Reddinger,second by Copeland,to hire Tom Raley as patrolman at salary of $800.00 per month.Carried 4 to O. Meeting adjourned. \.. ---------.Cle"'r""k,---------------Mayor The regular council meeting was held May 14,1979 at city hall with Mayor Boone presiding and councilmen Bob Reddinger,Luke Gruber, Rarry Copeland,and Dennis Thompson present.Hugh Grandfield, deceased,not replaced as yet. Moved by Gruber,second by Thompson to approve minutes as read. Carried 4 to O. Engineer,Renry Oakes,presented to the council specs and revised plans and easements for the storm sewer down 8th St. Moved by GrUber,second by Reddinger,that the City not pay for any easements on the storm sewer because it is benefitting those properties.Carried 4 to O. Mayor Boone appointed Bob Reddinger and Rarry Copeland to procure easements.
