Mayor Boone was appointed representative to county association. Street projects were discussed by the council but was tabled until a later date. Purchase of snow plow and chip spreader was tabled. Meeting adjourned. ClerkMayor ~ril 30,1979 A special meeting was held on April 30,1979 with Mayor Boone presiding and all councilmen present. This meeting was held for the purpose of selling $125,000.00 GO water storage bonds.Bids were as follows: Shaw-McDermott Carleton Beh Co Eowa-De s Moines 5.8122 5.9186 6.002 Clean Up day has been changed to Friday,May 18,1979. Moved by Reddinger,second by Copeland,to hire Tom Raley as patrolman at salary of $800.00 per month.Carried 4 to O. Meeting adjourned. \.. ---------.Cle"'r""k,---------------Mayor The regular council meeting was held May 14,1979 at city hall with Mayor Boone presiding and councilmen Bob Reddinger,Luke Gruber, Rarry Copeland,and Dennis Thompson present.Hugh Grandfield, deceased,not replaced as yet. Moved by Gruber,second by Thompson to approve minutes as read. Carried 4 to O. Engineer,Renry Oakes,presented to the council specs and revised plans and easements for the storm sewer down 8th St. Moved by GrUber,second by Reddinger,that the City not pay for any easements on the storm sewer because it is benefitting those properties.Carried 4 to O. Mayor Boone appointed Bob Reddinger and Rarry Copeland to procure easements. Commencing at the center of Section 33,T-79-N,R-26-W;thence S-O deg 00"1560.0ft.;thence N-89 deg 53'-E 1613.16 ft;thence N-64 deg-42' E 94.02 ft thence N-89 deg-53'E 155.4 ft to the point of beginning,said point being the centerline of First Street and being 30 ft S-89 deg-53' W of the SW corner of Lot 100,Corene Acres Plat #6,an Official plat now included in and forming a part of the City of Waukee,Dallas County, Iowa.Thence N-89 deg-53'E 150.0 ft to the SE corner of said Lot 100; thence S-O deg-OO'100.0 ft;thence S65 deg 10'W 165.28 ft;thence N-O deg-OO'along the centerline of First Street extended South 257.11 ft to the point of beginning.All of said parcel being in the SE\of Section 33-79 26,City of Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa and contains approx.0.7663 acres. The following citizens were considered for the vacant council seat-- Gary Bagby,Claire Chester,Tom McClure,Larry Oetting,and Verle Wright.The council voted by ballot for councilman to replace Rugh Grandfield.Larry Oetting,on 2nd ballot,received 4 votes. Moved by Reddinger,second by Copeland,to approve Larry Oetting to fill the vacancy on the Waukee City Council.Carried 4 to O. The clerk administered the oath of office to Larry Oetting. Moved by Gruber,second by Oetting,to appoint Lee Felt and Ken Spahr to a 4 year term on the Planning &Zoning Commission.Carried 5 to O. Moved by Reddinger,second by Copeland,to appoint Richard and Tom Inman to a 4 year term on the Board of Adjustment. 5 to O. Corbett Carried Mayor Boone appoint Harry Copeland as Mayor pro tern replacing Hugh Grandfield,'deceased.Carried 5 to O. Ron Vest gave his report concerning the police department .•The Loenard plat,south of Waukee in Boone township which is within 2 miles of Waukee city limits,requirements was brought up before the council for review. Moved by Heddinger second by Copeland,to approve Leonard plat as required by law.Carried 5 to O. Moved by Copeland,second by Reddinger,to have special hearing on June lIon rezoning of Bud Gray plat #10.Carried 5 to O.Description is as follows: Jack Inman Maple St. Adjustment of Inman Realty is considering buying a parcel This parcel of ground being owned by 2 owners. will have a hearing on this parcel of ground. of ground on Board of Streets were discussed by the council.Bids were received from Iowa Road Builders and Benderoff Co to patch and relay a 2"mat on the following streets:3rd St from 3rd &Northview wouth to the pavement on 3rd St.Northview--l block from 3rd &Northview to 2nd St and Waukee Ave for.l blk from 3rd &Waukee to 2nd St and the intersection of 2nd&Bel-A~re.These streets would be classified as repair.The council I 195 May 14--cont asked the clerk to get another bid and also clarify the present bids. This was completed by the city clerk and these are the final bids:Hillis Co--$24,650.00 or $3.38 per sq yd and $48.00 per ton to patch,Benderoff Co--$22,400.00 or $3.07 per sq yd and $35.00 per ton to patch,Iowa Road B1drs--$19,043.00 or $2.75 per sq yd and $45.00 per ton to patch.Iowa Road Builders were awarded the contract will start within 2 weeks.Slurry and patch will be applied to streets as needed. Mayor Clerk June 11,1979 The regular meeting of the Waukee City counciJl was held June 11,1979 with Mayor Boone presiding and all councilmen present. Moved by Oetting,second by Copeland,to approve minutes as read.Carried 5 to O. Bud Gray rezoning hearing was held as published in the Dallas County News. No written or oral complaints were received. Moved by Heddinger,second by Thompson to rezone this parcel of land consist- ing of approximately .Q7663 acres from R-1 to R-2.Carried 5 to O. Moved by Thompson,second by Oetting to hire Larry Phillips as police officer at a salary of $875.00 per month.Carried 5 to O.Officer Phillips has completed Police Academy schooling. Robert Ga11gher gave a report on Planning &Zon{ng meeting. Moved by Gruber,second by Copeland to approve a beer permit for Robert Heddinger DBA Bob's Tap.Carried 4 to O.Reddinger not voting. Moved by Copeland,second by Oetting to approve cigarette permits for the following:Casey's,Andy's Pizza,Country Livin,Uptown Cafe,Bob's Tap, and v.JaukeeDrug.Carried 5 to O. Weeds on vacant property was discussed by the council.Notices to be sent out to property owners to have them cut. Council discussed the roof of City Hall.A bids of $510.00 was submitted by All Weather Roofing Co of Des Moines.Council wants another bid. Council had a discussion on the City Administrator having the authority to hire and fire employees so that it would not be necessary to rehire them each year.Paul Huscher to report on ordinance giving this authority.
