The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was held on July 9,1979
with Mayor Boone presiding.Councilmen present:Luke Gruber,Rarry
Copeland,Bob Heddinger,and Larry Oetting.Dennis Thompson arrived later.
Moved by Gruber,second by Reddinger,to approve minutes as mailed out.
Carried 4 to O.
Guest Ronald Olson discussed with the council about Businessmen's
Association proposal to build restrooms closer to shelter house on NE
corner of shelter house.
Moved by Gruber,second by Copelnad,to approve Active Businessmen's
Association's proposal to build 2 restrooms at the NE corner of shelter
house with city picking up balance of estimate--approximately $200.00.
Carried 4 to O.
Discussion on moving noon siren switch to city hall from barber shop was
held.
Motion by Gruber,second by Reddinger,to investigate purchase of our
own switch box with and without timer clock and receive bids on installation
of same.Carried 4 to O.
Bid on slurry coat was discussed.Motion by Copeland,second by Thompson,
to approve bid from Slurry Coat Inc--19,750 sq yds at .699 per sq yd.
Motion carried 3-2--Gruber and Oetting voting No.
Plaza Development requested a meeting with council and firemen on
July 16 at 7:00 p.m.to go thru Building #2 of new apartments on 4th
Street.
Discussion was held on blowing tornado siren on each Saturday noon to
familiarize citizens with this siren's sound.No action taken.
Ron Vest gave the police report.
Officer Vest was advised to draw up specs for new police car and also
to get prices for new scanner.
Motion by Heddinger,second by Oetting.to purchase a poloroid camera
for police department--price limit of $50.00.Motion carried 5 to O.

The storm sewer on 8th St was discussed.Bids are about ready to be let.
Weeds on vacant lots was discussed.Follow-up on all places where weeds
haven't been mowed.
The Waukee Development Corporation was discussed.

The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was held on August 13,
1979 with Mayor Boone presiding and all councilmen present except
Rarry Copeland.
Moved by Thompson,second by Reddinger,to approve minutes as read.
Carried 4 to O.
Jim Berner and Lloyd Royer met with the council regarding an additional
Little League diamond.Plans for diamond on east corner of park was
presented to the council.The council asked for cost of grading,
fencing,and other costs pertaining to a new diamond and report back
to council.
Moved by Gruber,second by Oetting,to approve a liquor
Bob's Tap.Voting yes--Gruber,Thompson,and Oetting.

Ron Jackson of Kirkland-Michael discussed grant received by city for
SSES study.Moved by Reddinger,second by Thompson,to accept the
federal SSES grant in amount of $43,650.00.Carried 4 to O.

Storm sewer along 8th Street was discussed by the council and it's
problems in receiving easement at the south end of the project.Clerk
is to get further information from Oakes Engineering concerning this
problem.
A special council meeting was set for September 17,1979 at 7:30 p.m.
concerning upgrading all ordinances for City of Waukee.
Fawn Engineering Co has requested the city issue industrial bonds
in the sum of $700,000.00 to purchase the Ram property.The council
requested more information and a meeting to discuss this matter.
