were elected at the regular city election on Novebmer 6,1979:Bernard
Boone for a 2 year term as Mayor and Arthur Spencer,Harry V Copeland,
James E Higgs Larry Oetting,and Curtis Scott were elected to 2-
year terms as councilmen.

The regular meeting of the Waukee City council was held November 19,1979
with Mayor Boone presiding and councilmen present were:Harry Copeland,
Larry Oetting,Dennis Thompson,and Robert Heddinger.
David White was given the oath of office by city clerk Remo Nizzi,replacing
Luke Gruber on the council.
Moved by Thompson,second by Copeland,to approve minutes as read.
Carried 5 to O.
Mr McCracken with Central Iowa Regional Planning gave a report on forming
a housing authority.
Ron Jackson gave report on the progress of the SSES study.
The storm sewer was discussed by the council.
Moved by Heddinger,second by Betting,to reject all bids on police cars
and advertise again.Carried 5 to O.
Bob Heddinger gave a report on the progress of the grading of ball diamonds.
The council discussed a handbook for the city employees.Much discussion
on this was held but no action taken.
Moved by Harry Copeland,second by David White,to increase the rates of
the gas ordinance.Carried 5 to 0,Voting as follows:
Yes--Copeland,Thompson,Heddinger,Oetting,and White
No---None
Now,therefore,be it resolved by the City of Waukee.Iowa city council
on this date,November 19,1979 at its regular council meeting with Mayor
Boone presiding and all councilmen present:Robert Heddinger,David iVhite
Larry Oetting Harry Copeland,and Dennis Thompson,subject to the approval
of the Commerce Commission to raise the gas rates,as follows:
Frist 500 cu ft or less $2.00
Next 1500 cu ft $.34 per CCF
Next 8000 ""$.20 ""
Next 20,000 cu ft or over $.18 ""
Minimum Monthly Charge---$2.00

Sgt Vest gave the police report.
Moved by Heddinger,second by Oetting to increase Tom Haley's monthly
salary by $75.00 per month.Carried 5 to O.
A lengthy discussion was held regarding employee wages.
Moved by Thompson,second by Copeland,to postpone allemployees review
on wages until after January 1,1980.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Heddinger,second by Oetting,to review Haley &Phillips after
January 1,1980.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Oetting,second by Heddinger,to expunge the motion regarding
Haley's increase in salary of $75.00 per month.Carried 5 to O.
Clerk Remo Nizzi advise the council that his employment would terminate
January 2,1980 and does not want to be considered for reappointment as
city clerk for the City of Waukee.
Moved by Copeland,second by Thompson,to approve the following claims:
