HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-02-18-Regular Minutesv 3--.-.- January 19,1980---cont This meeting was called to interview final applicants for position of city clerk-administrator.Final applicants were selected by a screening committee composed of Mayor Boone, Harry Copeland,and Jim Higgs.Three applicants were selected by this committee to be interviewed by the entire council.One of the three final applicants withdrew his application because of starting date for this position -- he would not be available as soon as the council wished. Mr Brian Redshaw from Sioux City,Iowa,was selected by the council to serve as city clerk-administrator.Moved by Scott,second by Copeland,to employ Mr Redshaw as.city clerk administrator starting on or before February 1,1980. A roll call vote was held and viting was as follows: Ya---Spencer Scott,Higgs,Copeland,Oetting Nay---None Other business before the council was to send bill to Country Time Apartments for gas line welding and to contact Rockwell International about faulty gas meter on Coop grain dryer. Mayor Clerk The Waukee City Council met in regular session on Monday,February 18,1980 with Mayor pro tern Harry Copeland presiding and the following councilmen present:Jim Higgs,Larry Oetting,Curtis Scott,and Art Spencer.Absent:Mayor Bernard Boone. Guests at this meeting were:Jim Schissel,Ron Jackson,Rick Oberling,Gary Bagby,Ray Clark,Karen Biddle,and Mr &Mrs Jim Skinner. Moved by Scott,second by Oetting.to approve minutes as mailed out.Carried 4 to O. Jim Schissel me.t with the council regarding converting his duplex to condominiums.Several requirements could not be met according to the city attorney,however the council suggested that Mr Schissel meet with the P &Z.Clerk to get a copy of applicable zoning ordinance for Mr Schissel. Ron Jackson from KMA gave a report on the SSES study 208 facility plans.We are not on step 1 of Section 201.We are 85,86,&87 on the fundable list.75~of funds are federal,5%funds are State, and 20%are local. CIRALG met with the council regarding the federal The council decided to not get involved with Moved by Higgs,second by Scott,to accept the following resolution concerning the exchange of deeds on cemetary property: RESOLUTION 4 February 18,1980---cont BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Waukee make an exchange of properties with Waukee Cemetery to obtain a tract of ground for the site of Waukee Jordan Well No.2:the property to be acquired by the Town of Waukee from Waukee Cemetery being legally described as follows: Beginning at a point 959.78 feet S 890 47'W and 1213.99 feet N0052'W of the South ~Corner of Section33-79-26, said point being on the centerline of 6th St.;thence N89047'E.along the North line of Waukee Cemetary,133.0 feet;thence S0052'E,75.0 feet;thence S89047'W,133.0 feet to a point on the centerline of 6th ..St.;Thence N0052'W,along said centerline of 6th St.75.0 feet to the point of beginning. Said parcel is subject to Bead easement of the West 33 feet thereof. The eouncil discussed the agreement with the Animal Rescue League. It was decided by the council to have a meeting with a representative of the Animal Rescue League to duscuss their retainer fees and service charges. Moved by Scott,second by Spencer Sunday Sales for Andy's Pizzarena sales for Casey's General Store. to approve a liquor permit and and a beer permit and Sunday Carried 4 to O. Moved by Oetting,second by Scott,to adjourn, Meeting adjourned. ~-#"f February 28,1980 A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was held February 28,1980 at 7:00 p.m.for an audit report.Harry Copeland, mayor pro tem,presided and all councilmen were present.Mayor Bernard Boone absent. The minutes were read and a motion by Higgs second by Oetting, to expunge the motion regarding delinquent water accounts shut off notices and make a new motion to read: 'Moved by Higgs,second by Oetting,to direct City Clerk to mail letters to delinquent customers.All water bills will be in arrears no more than one month.After that time,delinquent customers will receive a 12 day notice and if the account is not up to date within that 12 days,water service will be disconnected.A $25.00 re-hookup fee,in addition to full payment,will be paid before water is turned back on.Carried Lf to Oil Carried 4 to O.
