HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-03-10-Regular Minutes7 March 10,1980 The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was held on March 10,1980 with Mayor pro tern Harry Copeland presiding and all councilmen present. Moved by Spencer,second by Oetting,to accept minutes as read. Carried 4 to O. Bob Heddinger met with the council regarding a beer garden to the rear of his businessestablishrnent.No action taken at this time. Lloyd Royer and Karen Crane representing the Waukee Recreational Youth Committee met with the council rega~d Little League and Little Girls Softball diamonds.Moved by Oetting,second by Higgs,to pay $595.00 to Steve Corell for grading these diamonds. Carried 4 to O.The council had agreed to match funds with this organization for grading. Raymond Burger met with the council regarding a request for changing his business property from R-2 zoning to C-~zoning. Ken Spahr,chairman of P &Z recommended that this prsperty remain non-conforming in R-2.No action taken at this time. Discussion was held regarding city's obligation to cover additional cost of 12"water main opposed to 6','water main in Bud Gray's Plat 10 in Corene Acres. Discussion was held on claimed gas line encroachment and legality of condominium sign on Skinner property.Moved by Oetting, second by Spencer.to move gas line off of this property.Carried 4 to O. Paul Huscher reported on GO bonds for indebtedness.A discussion was held on this. Mr Huscher also reported on incompatability of councilman and sheriff's deputy for Curtis Scott. Moved by Oetting,second by Scott,to appoint Harry Copeland as Mayor.Carried 4 to O. Harry Copeland turned in his resignation as councilman to serve as Mayor.Moved by Oetting,second by Spencer to accept his resignation.Carried 4 to O. The clerk presented a petition from citizens of Waukee to have a special election for Mayor and council seat vacated by Harry Copeland. Clerk,Brian Redshaw,gave a report proposed uses for Revenue Sharing. held on th~e subjects.
