Meeting adj7ned. ~ May 12,1980 A special council meeting was call to order at 7:15p.m.by Mayor Copeland.Present were councilmen Spencer,Oetting,Hi~gs,Scott, and Jansma. Mayor Copeland called for any objections to the plans and specif- ications of the 1980 storm sewer project.There were no objections. Higgs moved that the plans and specifications be accepted.Second by Scott.Ayes:Spencer,Higgs,Scott and Jansma.Nays:Oetting. Moved by Scott,second by Jansma to open bids.Carried 5 to O. 11 bids were opened. A meeting to cons&der these bids is set for 7:30 p.m.,May 13 before the ordinance revision meeting. Moved by Jansma,second by Spencer to adjourn.Carried 5 to O. May 12,1980 The regular meeting of the Waukee City council was called to order at 8:30 p.m.by Mayor Copeland.The opening of the bids had delayed the start of the meeting.All councilmen were present. Moved by Jansma,second by Higgs,to approve minutes as read. Carried 5 to O. Fire Chief Jerry Johnson and Bob Applegate met with a request for 1 Federal pager ($300.00 approximately)and 2 MSA air packs ($1500.00 approximately).A discussion was held on the fire contracts and associated revenues from surrounding communities. Moved by Higgs,second by Scott,to purchase 1 Federal pager and 2 MSA air R,acks"at approximately $1800.00.Carried 5 to O.;'0 be f'C'-ld kC,",-,-\,"-e "J~\1 I,1411>0 The council requested a schedule of revenues and when they are received.- The clerk-administrator was directed to contact Rich Brothers Fireworks Company and order $875.00 worth of fireworks for the Lfth of July. John Winkler of the library board informed the council that the library board had received a gift of $1850.00 from the 'Haukee Centennial Committee.He requested that a certificate of deposit be set up with limitations on its usage. Scott made the following resolution which was seconded by Oetting: 'The City of Waukee recognizes the restrictions on the $1850.00 given to the Waukee library board by the Centennial Committee that it wi~l be used.for no o~he:purpose than a library building or re1ocatlon of a llbrary bUl1dlng.Funds will remain under the control of the library board'Carried 5 to O.
