October 28,1980
A special meeting of the Waukee city council was held ~u~sday,
October 28,1980 at 7:30 p.m.with Hayor Copeland pres~d~ng
and all councilmen were present.
Irvin Thompson d/b/a Tom &Jerry's (fo~erly Andy's Pizzarena)
presented his application for Class C l~quor license,Sunday
sales permit,and c Lga re t t;e permit,
Hoved by Oetting,second by Jansma,to approve the license and
permits for Tom &Jerry's.Carried 5 toO.
Hoved by Higgs,second by Jansma,to raise the purchase ~imit
of the city administrator from $100.00 to $500.00.Carr~ed 5 to O.
The city council discussed an ordinance requiring mobile home
courts within the city limits to have storm shelters.
The council discussed the problems associated with conversions
from condominiums to apartments.Thecounc~l.also discuss~d
restrictions which may be placed on condom~n~um construct~on.
Kenn Spahr,chairman of the P &Z,indicated that his would provide
the council with copies of a model land dedication ordinance.
Moved by Jansma,second by Spencer,to adjourn.Carried 5 to O.

November 11,1980
The regular meeting of the Waukee city council was called to order
by Hayor Harry Copeland all councilmen were present.
Guests at this meeting were:Roger Anderson,Jerry Bro,vn,Bob
Christianson,Brian Renfrow,Doug Brickert,and.Larry Phillips.
Moved by Higgs,second by Jansma,to approve minutes from October
14 and October 28 with correction of October 14 minutes from _
Jo-Lane Hobile Estates to Midwest Mobile Homes ..Carried 5 to O.
W D Brickert of Hunter Insurance Agency met with the council
regarding the final copy of the city's insurance.The city clerk
is to meet with Hr Brickert regarding the details.
Hike Thompson of Employers Mutual Companies was not present.He
was to present the cost options involved in increasing the water
pressure to the high school on East St in case of fire.The city
clerk was directed to contact the city engineer for a cost estimate
on same.
Bob Christianson met with the council regarding an alley vacation.
The city attorney requested more information from Hr Christianson
before an action by the city council.
Moved by Higgs,second by Scott,to approve a Class ~C beer
permit,Sunday sales,and cigarette permit to Casey's General
Store.Carried 5 to O.
The 6 month review of Roger Anderson,who had been hired on April
28,1980,was held.Moved by Oetting,second by Jansma,to
increase 11r Anderson's salary from $850.00 per month to $950.00
per month.Carried 5 to O.This increase to be effective
November 1,1980.Mr Anderson's next review will be January
1,1981 along with the rest of the city employees.

Moved by Jansma,second by Oetting,to purchase a TP-9 gas meter
for the Co-op dryer for approximately $1850.000 Carried 5 to O.
Credit in the amount of $944.86 from the TP-4 meter will be applied
toward this purchase.
The council discussed the gas purchase adjustment clause which was
accepted on March 10,1980.Due to the 44.9¢increase per MCF to
the City of Waukee from Northeern Natural Gas,effective December
27,1980,the January gas bill will reflect a 5¢per CCF PGA.
The city clerk was instructed to contact General Securities Corp
and terminate the lease agreement on the Sharp SF501 copier
effective December 15,1980.The clerk was instructed to contact
various venders who supply 'Plain paper copiers'.
The city clerk was instructed to continue taking applications for
the janitor position for cleaning the city hall.
The City will begin a water and gas meter testing program for
varifying the accuracy of its utility meters effective ~mmediately.
The council set November 25 and December 2 at 7:30 p.m.for
ordinance revision meetings.The next regular council meeting will
be Tuesday,December 9,1980 at 7:30 p.m.

November 25,1980
A special meeting of the Waukee city council was held on November
25,1980 at 7:30 p.m.with Mayor Copeland presiding and the
following councilmen present:Oetting,Jansma,and Scott.
Absent:Higgs and Spencer.
This meeting was held to revise the existing parking ordinances.
The 'No Parking'areas in the city were examined and alterations
were made.
The city council is seriously considering a change where Walnut
Street from 6th to Ashworth Dr (area in front of Post Office)
would be made I-way for east-bound traffic.

Carried 3 to '0.
A special meeting of the Waukee council was held on December 2,
1980 at 7:30 p.m.with Mayor Copeland presiding and all councilmen
present except Higgs.
The meeting was originally called to discuss the final draft
of the revised city ordinances.As city attorney Paul Huscher's
staff was unable to complete this task,the time was used to
discuss the gas ordinance and the gas building code.
The gas building code.dated 1966 was left virtually unaltered.
City attorney Hus~her presented the council with the City of Clive's
massage parlor ordinance for their consideration at a later date.
The final draft of the revised city ordinances will be examined
at a later date in January.
City administrator,Brian Redshaw,presented the council with an
updated city map and legal description to be included in the city's
boundary ordinance,which will also be considered in January,1981.
