HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-10-13-Regular MinutesOctober 6,1981 61 The Waukee council met in special session on October 6,1981 at 7:30 p.m.Mayor Copeland presided and all councilmen were present except Curtis Scott. The purpose for this special meeting was a zoning change hearing. Guests.at this meeting were:Jerome Volkmer,Viola Neubauer,Joseph Neubauer,Kenn Spahr,Roger Buffington,Rosemarie Volkmer,Nicole Keller,John Grubb,Steve Grubb,Jerry Alt,Delmer Boll,Gordon Christianson,Bob Reddinger,Brian Steffen,and Remo Nizzi. Remo Nizzi had 5 procedural objections to the hearing. Jerry Alt,attorney for John and Steve Grubb,voiced objections to the proposed change from R-3 to R-4 zoning of his clients'property. The council directed the Planning &Zoning Commission to further review the records,update the map,and have a hearing. Moved by Jansma,second by Higgs,to adjourn at 9:06 p.m.Carried 4-0. Meeting adjourned. October 13,1981 The regular meeting of the Waukee city council was held on October 13,1981.Mayor Copeland presided and all councilmen were present. The meeting was called to order at 7:36 p.m. Guests at this meeting were:Joyce Allen,Bob Reddinger,and Mr and Mrs Harold Jensen.Staff present were:Brian Redshaw,Larry Phillips,Paul Huscher,and Roger Buffington. Moved by Higgs,second by Jansma,to approve minutes of September 14, September 29,and October 6.Carried 5 to O. Harold Jensen of Jensen Company presented a maintenance and service program for the water and lagoon systems.The council directed Mr Jensen to formulate a proposal for the repair of the lagoon aeration system and have it presented at a later date. Larry Phillips,police chief,presented the police report.He indicated that an ordinance regarding the launching of projectiles should be considered. The 1981-82 Street Construction program was discussed.Further action was deferred until a report is received from the Streets Committee. Legal representation for the city's traffic cases was discussed. Moved by Jansma,second by Scott,to appoint the firm of Paul E Huscher to represent the City for cases involving city ordinances based on an hourly fee where council far the defendent is involved. Carried 4 to O--Oetting abstaining. The purchase of an 11'power reversible snow plow was discussed. Moved by Scott,second by Jansma,to approve the purchase of an 11' power reversible snow plow with attachments for $3230.45.from Coates Manufacturing obtaining credit where possible from existing attach- ments.Carried 5 to O. Longevity pay for the city's full time employees was discussed. It was suggested that $2.00 per month additional pay be given for each month worked after January 1,1980.This would involve $24.00 per month after the first year. Moved by Oetting,second by Higgs,to table discussion on longevity pay until the November meeting.Carried 4 to l--Scott voting No. Brian Redshaw presented the administrator's report.
