The regular June meeting of the Waukee City Council was held on June
8,1982 at 7:30 P.m.Mayor Joseph Neubauer presided and all council-
men were present.
Moved by Scott,second by Christianson,to.approve the minutes of May
11 and June 1,1982.Carried 5 to O.
Guests were:Ben Phillips,Scott Thomas,Don Henson,Harry Jones,
Jim Higgs,Nicole Keller,Luke Gruber,Bob Christianson,Remo Nizzi,
Art Spencer,Bob Applegate,Jim Berner,Karen ~fuite,Arnold Laurens,
Roger Buffington,and Randy Applegate.
Bob Applegate,chief of the \\TaukeeFire Department,spoke to the
council regarding a new fire station.Jim Berner presented two (2)
drawings of a proposed layout for this facility.Various cost
estimates were discussed but no official action was taken.

Luke Gruber,captain of the Waukee First Responders,presented an
equipment request to the council.The items would be used for auto
extraction.No official action was taken,but it was stated that
the First Responder budget for FY 82-83 was $3000.00.

as presented.Carried 5 to O.

Moved by Jansma,second by Rees,to authorize the Mayor to sign
the cont.ract with Grimes Asphalt &Paving Corp for the 1982
Asphalt Paving Project.Carried 5 to O.
FY 82-83 salaries for the city employees were discussed by the
council.Moved by Scott,second by Oetting,to give the full-time
employees including Hannah Weil a 7~%increase.A roll call vote
was taken as follows:

Motion carried 4 to 1.
Moved by Rees,second by Scott,to publish salary and fringe benefit
information in the news letter.Motion defeated 2 to 3.
Moved by Jansma,second by Christianson,to give a 50¢per hour
increase to the city's part time employees.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Rees,second by Oettin~,to table the longevity pay item
on the agenda.Carried 4 to l--Scott voting No.
Only one (1)application was received for the Planning &Zoning
Gonrrnissionvacancy.Moved by Rees,second by Christianson,to
appoint Dan Moore to the Planning &Zoning ConrrnissiQnto fill the
vacancy created by Kenn Spahr's resignation and to serve his un-
expired term.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Jansma,second by Oetting,that the Ordinance #2010,as
amended--"An Ordinance Prohibiting Open Burning Within the City
Limits of the City of Waukee,Iowa"be now put upon its final
passage and adoption.The Mayor put the question on the final
passage and adoption of said ordinance,and the roll being called,
the following named councilmen voted:

IVhenmpon,the Mayor declared said motion duly adopted and passed.
No oral or written objections were received by the City Clerk
regarding the proposed aerial mosquito spraying.
Moved by Jansma,second by Christianson,to approve the bid of
$1000.00 from Campbell Flying Service to perform an aerial spraying
of mosquitos.Carried 4 to l--Rees voting No.
Moved by Rees,second by Jansma,to approve cigarette permits for
Bob's Tap,Casey's General Store,and Waukee Emporium.-Carried
5 to O.
Gordon Christianson left at this point in the meeting.
Moved by Scott,second by Jansma,to retain a firm to examine the
City Hall roof with a cost not to exceed $400.00.Carried 4 to O.
Moved by Rees,second by Jansma,to advertise the following items
for bids to be opened on July 13,1982 at 7:30 p.m.:
1)1965 Dodge van 2)1965 Dodge pickup 3)pickup utility box
4)Meyer spreader--TM-lO 10-1594 5)1977 Dodge Monaco
The sealed bid will contain a check for the amount of the bid
prior to acceptance.Carried 4 to O.

Moved by Oetting,second by Jansma,to appoint Dr.Dwight Keller
as the City's health officer.Carried 4 to O.
Moved by Oetting,second by Rees,to adjourn at 10:43 p.m.Carried

A special meeting of the 1'Jaukeecity council was
at 7:00 p.m.by Mayor Joseph A Neubauer.A roll
and all councilmen were present except Oetting.

The purpose of this meeting was to resolve the question of whether
or not the contractor would be allowed to install asbestos cement
water pipe in Plat 10.Discussion concerning concrete paving was
also to be held.
Guests at this meeting were:Karen I-Jhiteof The County Line Pilot,
Bud Gray of Bud Gray Construction and Harold Burger of Hawkeye
Construction.
Moved by Christianson,second by Scott,to require the total footage
of ~2"water pipe in Plat 10 to be PVC.The City's obligation
remains to cover the cost difference between 6 and 12 inch PVC pipe
with the cost not to exceed $7500.00.A roll call vote was taken
as follows:
Ayes:Christianson,Scott,Jansma
Nays:Rees
Absent:Oetting
Motion carried 3 to 1.
Moved by Scott,second by Christianson,to adjourn at 7:44 p.m.

The July regular city council meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
on July 13,1982 by Mayor Joseph Neubauer.A roll call was taken
and all councilmen were present-except Scott.

June 8 and June 18.Carried.3 to O.--Oetting abstaining.

Buffington,and Frank Hoifeldt.
FranK H6ifeldt,chairman of the Planning &Zoning Commission,spoke
to the council regarding R-3 zoning,step down zoning.He made
several recommendations concerning revisions to the official zoning
map.
Curtis Scott arrived at this point in the meeting.
