The various options regarding the maintenance of the City's Data Master
computer system were discussed by the City Council.
Moved by Christianson,second by Oetting,to enter into an IBM
maintenance agreement at a cost of $216.60 per month.A roll call was
taken as follows:Ayes --Jansma,Oetting and Christianson.
Nays --Scott.
Abstain --Rees.
Motion carried 3 to 1.
Moved by Christianson,second by Scott,to approve the purchase of
fireworks from Rich Brothers in the amount of $1,989.40 for the 1983
display.Carried 5 to O.
Brian J.Redshaw presented the Administrator's report.
Moved by Christianson,second by Rees,to authorize the Mayor and
City Administrator to enter into contract with J.R.Stelzer &Co.on
behalf of the City of Waukee for the painting of the 200M Ground storage
tank.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Jansma,second by Rees,to adjourn at 9:15 P.M.

The June 7,1983 regular City Council meeting was called to order at 7:32
p.m.by Mayor Joseph A Neubauer.Brian J Redshaw,City Clerk/Administrator
was present and taking minutes.
A roll call was taken and the following named councilmen were present:
Rees,Jansma,Scott,Oetting,and Christianson.Absent:None recorded.
The following guests were also present:David Reed,Scott Thomas,Earl
Stone,Harry Jones,Ben Phillips,Mark Casey,Terry Jilek,Bob Applegate,
Ron Olson,Virginia Oetting,Chet Chedester,Dena Forret,Debbie Cox,
Beth Dalbey,Diana Erickson,Roger Anderson,Bob Heddinger,Dick Applegate,
Brick Volkmer,Art Spencer,Nick Gruber,Jerry A Wright,Dwight Keller,
H H Morris,Dale &Muriel Boone.
Moved by Jansma,second by Scott,to approve the May 17 minutes as pr~s~nted
Carried 5 to O.
Virginia Oetting,Captain of the First Responders,appeared before the
City Council in reference to an Appreciation dinner for the First Responders
Moved by Scott,second by Christianson,to award $400.00 to the First
Responders in appreciation for their services to the City of Waukee.
Carried 5 to O.
Bob Applegate,Fire Chief,presented a letter to the City Council which
was drafted in a committee meeting with himself,Police Chief,City
Administrator,and Captain of First Responders.
Moved by Scott,second by Jansma,to adopt the following as policy for
.the City of Waukee in reference to the sounding of tornado sirens:
"If a tornado warning has been issued for Dallas County,the Dallas
County dispatcher will page the Fire Department for storm spotters.
Stormspotters will take up the appropriate positions."

"If a tornado has been sighted within a 10 mile radius of Waukee or
the vicinity of the following communities:(Adel,Dallas Center,
DeSoto,or Van Meter),the tornado siren will automatically be
tripped.
If a tornado is spotted by the Waukee storm spotters,the present
policy of radioing to the fire station and sounding the siren should
prevail."

A hearing on the proposed sale of public property was held as advertised
in the Dallas County News.No written objections were received by the
City Clerk and no oral objections were voiced at the hearing.
Moved by Rees,second by Scott,to sell the below described property
to Ron and H.Mac Olson by quit claim deed for $25.00 cash:
"Commencing at the NW corner of Lot 8,Block 1,in
Ferree's Addition to the City of Waukee,Dallas
County,Iowa,thence North lDO feet,thence East
60 feet,thence South 100 feet,thence West 60
feet,to the point of beginning."
Motion carried 4 to l--Oetting voting No.
Moved by Rees,second by Jansma,to approve cigarette permits for the
following establishments for the period July 1,1983 to June 30,1984:

4.Waukee Emporium

Mrs Vernon Dooley spoke to the Council regarding the issuance of a
Class C liquor license and Sunday sales privilege for Dooley's Lounge
which is to be located at 605 Ashworth Dr.Brian Redshaw indicated
that the proper forms and fees have not been received by City Hall.
The Mayor indicated that he would call a special meeting to handle
this matter at a later date.
Due to a scheduling conflict with a Northern Natural Gas meeting which
he and Mr Redshaw would attend,the Mayor requested that the next
regular meeting be changed to June 20.
Moved by Christianson,second by Scott,to set the next regular meeting
on Monday,June 20 at 7:30 p.m.Carried 5 to O.
A discussion on FY 83-84 wages was delayed until the July 5 regular
council meeting.
Roger L Buffington,City Engineer,presented his proposals for revised
subdivision specifications.He indicated the cost of such a project
would fall between $1000.00 and $1500.00.
Moved by Oetting,second by Christianson,to instruct the City Engineer
to formulate subdivision design and specifications to be included in
the subdivision ordinance by amendment at a cost not to exceed $1500.00.
Carried 5 to O.
The Council indicated that maintenance department employees be allowed
to take coffee breaks in the downtown restaurants df Waukee,but that
such breaks should not exceed 15 minutes including travel time.When
work takes the employee a substantial away from the downtown area,
the coffee break should be taken on the job site.
Brian Redshaw indicated that he had received 2 bids for the installation
of carpet at the fire station due to water damage.The bids were:

A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
at 7:10 p.m.by Mayor p r oct.em Gordon Christianson.Brian J.Redshaw,
City Clerk/Administrator,was present and taking minutes.
A roll call was taken and the following named councilmen were present:
Jansma,Oetting,Scott,Rees &.Christianson.Absent:Mayor Neubauer.
Moved by Rees,second by Jansma,to approve a Class C liquor license
for Dooley's Lounge at 605 Ashworth Drive.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Scott,second by Rees,to grant a Sunday sales privileg§
for Dooley's Lounge.Carried 3 to 2--0etting and Jansma,voting No.
Moved by Rees,second by Jansma,to approve a cigarette permit for
Dooley's Lounge.Carried 5 to O.
A discussion was held concerning the payment of interest on the 1983
Ford police car from date of billing until July 1 at the approximate
cost of $68.00.
Moved by Jansma,second by Rees,to approve the payment of approximately
$68.00 for interest on the 1983 Ford police car.Carried 4 to 1--
Scott voting No.
Moved by Jansma,second by Christianson,to authorize the payment
of the June Northern Natural Gas bill to insure receiving the
proper discount.Carried 5 to O.
