Moved by Rees,second by Barrett,to purchase the safe at the Police
Department in the amount of $600.00.Carried 5 to O.
The Mayor and Council commended Officers Phillips,Ash and Harney for
their investigative work and solving of this break-in.
Brian Redshaw gave the Administrator's report.
He reported on the street lighting proposal for Waukee Estates Plat #1.
Moved by Barrett,second by Hinkson,to locate a street light between
Lots 6 and 7 of Waukee Estates Plat #1.Carried 5 to o ..
Moved by Rees,second by Barrett;to approve an approximate expenditure
of $1,000.00 for bulldozing work on the lagoon dredging project site.
Carried 5 to O.
The gas leak survey by Utility Consultants was received and presented
to the Council.
Moved by Rees,second by Barrett,to adjourn at 10:43 p.m.Carried
5 to O.

A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order at
7:05 p.m.on August 28,1984 by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was held and all Councilmen were present except Howard Wilson.
Wayne Erdman represented Norma Franks before the City Council regarding
a fencing agreement.He indicated a desire to maintain the west one-
half of the fence constructed between the City of Waukee's property and
Mrs.Franks'property.Reference to storm sewer water was cited as
well.
Howard Wilson arrived at 7:10 p.m.
The City Council took a short recess to tour the sludge storage 517£
and inspect the new fence.After a tour of the lagoon,the City Council
resumed its discussion at 7:45 p.m.
Mr.Erdman stated that there was no access to the east end of the fence
and Mrs.Franks stated that the City intensified drainage 8 years ago.
Moved by Hinkson,second by Wilson,to turn the situation over to the
Township Trustees as fenceviewers and pay one-half of the expenses.
Carried 5 to O.
The City Clerk is to notify Boone Township Trustees of a filing and a
decision will be made by letter.
Moved by Rees,second by Barrett,to approve a payment of $1004.00 to
Dick Kneuper for fence building.Carried 5 to O.

Moved by Stork,second by Hinkson,to approve the expenditure of
$400.00 for FY 83-84 to the First Responders as an appreciation gift.

A brief discussion was held on consideration of adding to the reward
monies for Johnny Gosch and Eugene Martin.No action was taken at
this time.

The regula meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order at
7:30 p.m.on September 11,1984 by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was held and all Councilmen were present.
Guest and staff at this meeting were:Remo Nizzi,Earl Stone,Don&Judy Henson,Ben Phillips,Bob Applegate,Frank Hoifeldt,Tom Darnold,
Steve Grubb,11arc Stiles,Luke Gruber,Matt Hanson,Randall Hanson,
John Grubb,Terry Jilek,Jim Berner,Dick Applegate,Jim Broderick,
Vivian Wilson,Betty Huscher,Paul Huscher,Brian Redshaw,and Ann Ford.
Moved by Stork,second by Wilson,to approve the minutes of August 14
and August 28 with correction to August 14 minutes to change vote on
traffic light to "Nays:Hinkson and Wilson".Carried 5 to O.
Bob Applegate,Fire Chief,spoke with the Council regarding the meeting
with the township trustees on the extra money from FY 83-84 budget.
The fire department requested this money be rolled over to purchase a
tank for the chassis now owned by the fire department.Mr.Applegate
had received a bid from Smeal Fire Equipment on a stainless steel tank
in the amount of $6300.00.No action was taken at this time on the
purchase of a tank.
Tom Darnold,representing Snyder &Associates,reported that the
construction drawings for Glenview Manor had been approved by Roger
Buffington and recommended the Council accept said drawings with changes
outlined in Mr.Buffington's letter.A disagreement concerning the
construction of sidewalks or a performance bond was discussed.
Moved by Hinkson,second by Wilson,that the matter of sidewalks being
constructed or a bond posted be settled outside of the Council chambers.
Motion carried 3 to 2--Rees and Stork voting No.
Construction drawing of Glenview Hanor will be reviewed at a later date.
