The FY 85-86 Street Program was discussed.The Streets Committee
will meet on April 19,1986 at 8:00 a.m.to go over the streets.
Jerry Brown gave the Parks &Recreation report.
Frank Hoifeldt gave the Public Safety report.
Joe Stork gave the Utilities report.There will be a public
meeting on April 15,1986 at 7:00 p.m.at the Waukee high school
to review and discuss long-range capital improvements.
Brian Redshaw gave the Administrator's report.
Art Killian had requested to pasture sheep again this year on
City owned land south of town.The Council decided they would
not rent pasture ground this year.
Moved by Gruber,second by Brown,to approve Brian Redshaw's
attendance at the IMFOA conference,April 16 through April 18.
Carried 5 to O.
A letter was received from Van Meter Township indicating their
termination for fire protection effective July 1,1986.
Doors for the fire station were discussed.
Moved by Tovrea,second by Hoifeldt,to approve entering into
a contract with Voorhees Design Group on the fire station door.

A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
at 7:02 p vm ,by Mayor Gordon Christianson.BrianJ.Redshaw was
present and taking minutes.
A roll call was taken and the following named Councilmen were present:
Brown,Tovrea,Hoifeldt and Stork.Absent:Gruber.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Larry Phillips,Scott Thomas
and Tami Hopper.
Police Chief,Larry Phillips,advised the City Council that Larry
Sadler had resigned his position as police officer effective May
15,1986.He made a recommendation that starting pay be increased
from $14,500.00 to $15,500.00 and that Jim Ash be increased from
$15,400.00 to $16,200.00 and Ken Hopper be increased from $18,000.00
to $18,800.00 effective June 1,1986.The purpose of these raises
would be to maintain the gap between starting officers and experienced
officers.
Hoved by Brown,second by Hoifeldt,to accept the above recommendations
and direct the personnel committee to study the complete City benefit
package after soliciting comments from all employees.

Moved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to appoint John H Storey,Jr
to a 5 year term on the Board of Adjustment.Carried 4 toO.
Brian J.Redshaw advised the Council that he had received a
resignation letter from Tom McClure,Zoning Administrator eff-
ective April 25,1986.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Brown,to accept Mr McClure's res-
ignation.Carried 4 toO.
The City Council decided to study the method of compensating the
Zoning Administrator and bring up the matter at a later date.
Moved by Stork,second by Bro,m,to adjourn at 8:06 p.m.Carried
4 to O.

order at 7:30 p.m.by Mayor pro tem,Luke Gruber.

Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Brown,to approve the minutes of
April 8 and 29.Carried 5 to O.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Bill Forret,Nick Gruber,
Kelly Rinehart,Harry Beveridge,Stephen Spencer,Phil Kausalik,
Marc Stiles,Walt Hinkson,Scott Thomas,Randy Foster,Don Henson,
Ray Nizzi,Roger Buffington,Paul E Huscher,and Judy Henson.
Phil Kausalik of 150 Corene Ave.requested permission to plant
several ornamental trees in the parking adjacent to his property.
He had been advised by the City Administrator that Corene Acres
Plat 10 had been approved with no provision for this.Mr Kausalik
indicated that these trees would have a mature height of not more
than 10 feet and would have non-aggressive root systems.
Moved by Tovrea,second by Stork,to allow Mr Kausalik to plant
Bradford pear trees with the understanding that he would remove
them if the City Engineer found that they would have a detrimental
effect on City utility lines.Carried 5 toO.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Tovrea,to approve the Treasurer's
report.Carried 5 toO.
