The regular meeting of the \vaukee City Council was called to order
at 7:31 p.m.by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was held and the following named Councilmen were present:
Tovrea,Hoifeldt,Stork.Absent:Brown and Gruber.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Dennis Alt,Jim Stricker,Rick
Huscher,Embree Edgington,David Schmidt,Jack Moorhead,James McKinney,
Mark Casey,Randy Krohn,Bret Pilney,Roger Buffington,Horman Hammen,
Doug Hammen,Bart Weller,Brian Sluaghter,Arnie Borchers,Henry Krohn,
Marc Stiles,Tim Wagner,Floyd Rosenkranz,Don Henson,Clint and Cyndi
Humbert,Dick Applegate,Katherine Ramsey,and Brian Redshaw.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Tovrea,to approve minutes of May 13 and
27.Carried 3 to O.
Dennis Alt and Jim Stricker of Iowa Department of Air,Water and Waste
Management spoke to the Council regarding the state's position relative
to the water and sewer plans of action.
Embree Edgington spoke regarding the construction of a handicapped
ramp at St.Boniface Church which would extend l'inside the Haple
Street right-of-way.
Moved by Tovrea,second by Stork,to approve the use of the right-of-
way by St.Boniface to construct a handicapped ramp.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to approve the Treasurer's report.

Hammen,spoke to the Councilregarding the rezoning of a property
at 50S-4th St from R-2 to C-2,legal description as follows:
Lot Six (6)in Block One (1)in Donahey's Addition to
the Town of Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa.
Moved by Tovrea,second by Stork,to set July S,1986 at 7:30 p.m.
for a hearing regarding the rezoning request for the above lot.
Carried 3 toO.
The Land Dedication Ordinance was discussed.Floyd Rosenkranz,
chairman of P &Z,indicated the status of this proposed ordinance.
The Commission is seeking a definition for the term "for a certified
land appraiser".No action was taken.
The FY 85-86 Street program was discussed.
Moved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to set aside $10,000.00 toward
the East Street project.Carried 2 to l--Hoifeldt voting No.
Moved by Tovrea,second by Hoifeldt,to approve the following projects
for inclusion in the 1986 Street Project bid letting:

After discussion of the 500M water tower,it was moved by Hoifeldt,
second by Stork,to draw up specifications and set up a bid letting
for the interior painting and manhole installation in the 500M
tower.Carried 3 to O.

Randy Krohn of Krohn Construction requested approval of the
construction drawings for Northview Estates Plat #2.Various
issues on Roger Buffington's comment letter were discussed.
110ved by Hoifeldt,second by Tovrea,to approve construction
dr~wings of Northview Estates Plat #2 subject to installation
of sidewalks on 4th Street,storm sewer calculations'and easement
for water main.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to approve cigarette permits
for the following businesses:Casey's General Store,Golden Spur,
Hometown Cafe &Lounge,Jumper's 21 Club,and Waukee Emporium.
Carried 3 to O.
A letter from the school superintendant and a revised survey request-
ing the purchase of right-of-way adjacent to the north 2 stalls of
the bus barn were discussed by the City Council.
Moved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to set up a public hearing on July
8,1986 at 7:30 p.m.for the purchase of a parcel of ground by the
Waukee School for an addition to the bus barn.Carried 3 to O.
Brian Redshaw explained the sewer credits that has been extended
to those citizens filling swimming pools.The Utilities Com.mittee
will review this policy and make recommendations to the City Council
on July 8,1986.
Moved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to reopen Mine Road.Carried
3 to O.
The Council discussed mosquito spraying.The City Clerk had
received prices on various methods of spraying.
Moved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to submit an application for aerial
spraying by July 4 and approve a ground application.Carried 3 to O.
Frank Hoifeldt gave the Public Safety report.
Joe Stork gave the Utilities report.
Brian Redshaw gave the Administrator's report.He reported that the
Jay-Cees wanted to have a 4th of July celebration at the park and
requested monetary help with refreshments.
Moved by Tovrea,second by lloifeldt,to approve an expenditure of
$376.45 to the Jay-Cees for a July 4 celebration.Carried 3 to O.
The City Council was advised of the Mayor's veto of the landfill
agency resolution.Brian Redshaw is to contact Madison County '*
and North Dallas County Landfills for ~ore cost estimates.
