A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
on August 28,1986 at 7:05 ~.m.by Mayor Gordon Christiansono
A roll call was taken and all Councilmen "ere present except
Tovrea.
Guests and staff present were:Terry Jilek,Roger Anderson,Leigh
David,Merle Rees,Dick Applegate,Dave Reed and Brian Redshaw.
Tovrea arrived at 7:18 p.m.
Moved by Brown,second by Gruber,to hire a 3rd-full-time maint-
aintence employee at a rate of $7000 per hour with an effective
date of 10-1-86.The applications will be due by September 22
and the current pa~t-time position will be eliminated on September
30.Carried 5 to O.
Stand-by compensation was discussed by theCity Council.It was
agreed that the police department will be responsible-for gas
emergencies after being properly trained ,iTi thin the next 2 weeks.
The Council agreed to discuss stand-by time for the police depart-
ment after receiving information on the number of hours involved
during the past year.They also discussed allowing comp time
in lieu of pay at the discretion of the police chief.
Moved by Gruber,second by Brown,to adjourn at 7:54 p.m.Carried
5 to O.

The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
at 7:30 p.m.by Mayor pro tern Luke Gruber on September 9,1986.
A roll call was taken as follows:Present:Brown,Tovrea,Gruber,
Hoifeldt,and Stork.Absent:Mayor Gordon Christianson.
Guests and staff at;this meeting were:Brian Redshaw,Roger Buff-
ington,Paul Huscher,Ann Ford,Bill Hays,Doug Hammen,John Winkler,
Bonnie Palmer,Hannah 1;iTeil,Nerle Rees,Terry Jilek,Rick Huscher,
Greg Breuer,Nick Gruber,Virginia Clark,Ray Clark,Leigh Davis,
Don Henson,Steve Spencer,Clinton Humbert,LeRoy Jessen,Jim Higgs,
and Floyd Rosenkranz.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Stork,to approve the August 12,21
and 28 minutes as amended,deleting the following paragraph from
the August 12 minutes:
d;Tower to be the height plus five feet angular distance
from base to overhead lines or permanent neighboring domicile.Excep-
tion:Towers with guy wires that are rated for collapsible distance,
the collapsible distance plus five feet may be used.
and inserting in lieu thereof,the following:
do Tower height plus five feet shall not exceed angular dis-
tance from base of overhead lines or permanent neighboring domicile.
Exception:Towers with guys wires that are rated for collapsible
distance,the collapsible distance plus five feet may be used.
Carried 5 to O.
Noved by Hoifeldt,second by Stork,to expunge the August 12 motion
approving the July 29 minutes.Carried 5 to O.
