September 13,1986 A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order on September 13,1986 at 9:00a.m.by Mayor Gordon Christianson. Frank Hoifeldt,chairman of the Public Safety Committee,rec- ommended Steve Green for new police officer. Moved by Gruber,second by Brown,to hire Steve Green effective September 15,1986 as police officer at a salary of $15,500.00 with 12 months probation and 6 months to establish residency. September 30,1986 A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order on September 30,1986 at 7:30p.m.by Mayor pro tem Luke Gruber. A roll call was taken and the following councilmen were present: Brown,Gruber,Tovrea,Stork and Hoifeldt.Absent:Mayor Gordon Christianson. The following guests and staff were also present:Bart Weller, Phil Kausalik,Virginia Clark,Ben Phillips,Dave Reed,Hannah Weil,Jim White,Wendy Hansen-Wagner and Terry Jilek.Brian J. Redshaw was taking minutes. The Mayor pro tem asked for 'any questions or objections relating to the proposed $3,000.00 budget amendment for FY 86-87.The $3,000.00 is budgeted for a Library Director's salary.The City Clerk had received no written comments and no oral comments were heard at the public hearing. AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 301,WAUKEE,MUNICIPAL CODE,ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA,BY AMENDING GENERAL REGULATIONS,ACCESSORY BUILDINGS. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee: Section 1.Section 301.8 of Chapter 301 Waukee Municipal Code,Zoning Ordinance of the City,is hereby amended by deleting the paragraph Accessory Buildings and inserting in lieu thereof the following: §301.8 Accessory Buildings.No accessory build- ing shall be erected in any front yard.Accessory build- ings shall be distanced at least two (2)feet from alley lines or easement lines,and two (2)feet from the lot lines of adjoining lots which are in any "R"district,and on a corner lot they shall conform to the set-back regula- tions On the side street;however,in no case shall any eave or overhang extend closer than twelve (12)inches to a rear or side yard lines,or an easement line.Accessory building must be erected separately from and a minimum horizontal distance of six (6)feet from any building pro- jection,and may not be connected by a breezeway or simi- lar structure.If any unenclosed balcony or unenclosed porch including any deck shall be constructed within six (6)feet from any accessory building the adjacent wall of said accessory building shall be not less than a two (2) hour fire wall.No unenclosed balcony or unenclosed porch or deck shall be constructed closer than three (3)feet to any accessory building Any building so connected to the principal building shall be considered a part of the said principal building and must meet the space requirements thereof.An accessory building shall not occupy more than thirty (30)per cent of the rear yard and shall not exceed fourteen (14)feet in height in any "R"district.This regulation shall not be interpreted to prohibit the con- struction of a four hundred forty (440)square foot garage on a minimum rear yard.
