The City Council discussed the 11ayor's 1987 cOI2I2itteeassignments.

ruction in the amount of $2530.00 which represents the cost differ-

The City Council discussed the proposed Clive fire protection agree-
ment with the City attorney.The City attorney was directed to
write a letter to the Citv of Clive with the proposed changes intheagreement.'....
Paul Huscher discussed the status of the radium removal appeal with
the City Council with some of the discussion centering on·alternative
technologies.
A proposed annexation moratorium agreement with the City of l'lest
Des Moines was·discussed by the Council.

1980 Ford F-700 dump truck from Riedel Truck Sa.Les in Rowan,Iowa
for $7500.00.Carried 3 toO.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Gruber,to appoint Paul E Huscher as
City attorney.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Brown,to approve an increase in Mr.
Buscher's retainer from $250.00 per mo.to $500.00 per mo.Carried
3 to O.

The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
at 7:30 p.m.by Hayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was held and all Councilmen were present except Tovrea.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Nick Gruber,Greg Breuer,
Brian Redshaw,Ann Ford,Roger Buffington,Paul Huscher,Virginia
Clark,Randy Krohn,Henry Krohn,Beck Scholes,Chad Scholes,Hendy
Hansen-Hagner,Leigh Davis,and Dick Applegate.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Gruber,to approve the minutes of
January 6,1987.Carried 4 to O.
Randy Krohn of Krohn Construction spoke to the Council regarding
the cost sharing on the wa t e r main in Northview Estates Plat #2.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Stork,to reconsider the motion of
January 6 not to pay the cost sharing of water main in Northview
Estates Plat 112 for the 12"water main.Carried 3 to l--Gruber

An ordinance to amend zoning ordinance 301.22 was discussed.Tovrea
is to take this up with P &Z on areas where off-street parking
would not be necesary.

Well #1 repair was discussed.Brian Redshaw had received quotes
on this repair work.as follows:$1400.00 from Jensen Company,
$990.00 from Thorpe Well Co.and $650.00 from Northway Company.
The Council directed the Clerk to check references on the Northway
Company.
Repair of Well #2 was also discussed.Brian Redshaw is to get
prices on this work.
A letter was received from Walnut Township regarding the FY 87-88
fire protection agreement.They agreed to 21<;or $4589,13.The
Council agreed that they would stay with the 23<;asking price.
Gruber is to take negotiations to Walnut Township.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Brown,to set Walnut Township fire
protection at 23<;.Carried 4 toO.
Another letter was received from Walnut Township requesting monetary
assistance with the maintenance of the cemetary in the amount of
$500.00.
Moved by Stork,second by Bro,rn,to give Walnut Township $500.00
for cemetary maintenance.Carried 4 toO.
A discussion was held on a building inspector to enforce the Uniform
Building Code.Paul Huscher is to check on liability insurance.
Brian Redshaw and Frank Hoifeldt will meet on this item.No action
was taken.
Jerry Brown gave the Public Safety report.The Committee had
received a letter from Mayor Christianson regarding changing the
speed limit from 25 mph to 35 mph from East St.to 2nd St.The
Committee recommended that this speed limit not be changed.The
Council agreed to this recommendation.
Frank Hoifeldt gave the Utilities Report.He spoke concerning the
"c"time given to maintenance.employees for weekend'stand-by.The
Committee recommended leaving the policy as is.Gas rates were
discussed but no action was taken at the January 5 meeting but will
be taken up again in February.
The .Council heard a report on meetings with Dr.Charles Johnson
and Bud Gray,who represented his father George Gray,concerning
easements for the water main looping proj ect.Pavment for these 20~.:,
easements was discussed.Gordon Christianson is to meet with the 2
parties again and offer $250.00 for easements.
The water treatment appeal is still waiting.Luke Gruber,Jerry
Brown and Paul Huscher are to meet with the Department of Natural
Resources regarding the City's appeal..

The Mayor reported on the meeting with Wayne 11cKinney and Jim
Riordan concerning development.
There was no Administrator's report.
