February 17,1987
A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
on February 17,1987 by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was taken and the following Councilmen were nresent:
Tovrea,Brown,Hoifeldt and Stork.Absent:Gruber.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Mr and Mrs David Applegate,
Mr and Mrs Dick Copeland,Mr and Mrs Howard Wilson,Ben Phillips,
Hannah Weil,Mr and 11rs David Smith,Bob Barrett,Larry Phillips,
Dick Applegate,Ginger Crawford,Dorothy Richards,11r and Mrs Chuck
Codner,Wayne McKinney,Leigh Davis,Ron Olson,Paul Huscher,Leslie
Applegate,Kim Applegate,Pam Applegate,Deb Copeland,Scott Copeland,
Brian Redshaw,Dennis Langel,Carol Christianson,Mr and I1rs Harry
Copeland,Mr and Hrs Bob Applegate,Mr and Mrs Jim Applegate,Ann
Ford,Mr and Mrs Robert Heddinger,Mr and 11rs Lloyd Royer,Virginia
Clark,Mr and Hr s Bob Russell,and Mr and Mrs D.P.Murray.
A short discussion was held concerning the easement with Dr.Charles
Johnson.
Hoved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to pay Dr.Charles Johnson $570.00
and execute an easement agreement for the 12"water line.Carried
4 to O.
Mayor Christianson presented the 'Citizen of the Year'award plaque
to Harry V.Copeland and made the following.proclamation:
PROCLAHATION
WHEREAS,Harry V.Copeland has the honor of being named 'Citizen of
the Year for 1986,and;
WHEREAS,I declare that one day in the year of 1987 be set aside and
that day be celebrated as "HARRY V.COPELAND DAY"in Waukee,Iowa,
THEREFORE,I declare February 18,1987 as that day.
Moved by Stork,second by Brown,to adjourn at 7:30 p.m.Carried

Heeting
February 24,1987
The \Jaukee City Council met in special session on February 24,1987
with Mayor Christianson nresiding.The meeting was called to order
at 7:00 p.m.
A roll call was held with the following Councilmen present:Gruber,
Tovrea and Hoifeldt.Absent:Brown and Stork.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Don Henson,Ann Ford,Scott
Thomas,Dick Applegate and Larry Phillips.
Councilmen Brown and Stork arrlved at 7:05 p.m.
The Council discussed recommendations from the Northway Company who
is pulling Well #1.The Council advised Brian Redshaw to contact
Northway Company to"bring back the stand-by pump tomorrow,have an
independant company do a meter check on the wire and nut a hold on
the wire if bad and purchase pipe,couplin~s and nipples from Plumb
Supply.
The Council heard a report from Scott Thomas,Fire Chief,regarding
the leak in the tank of the Dodge grass unit.He had received 3
bids for the replacement of this tank as follows:

Stork,to award bid for replacement
Bray and Brian Howe in amount of $1075.00.
Frank Hoifeldt advised the Council of his findings on other communities'
building inspectors.The Council advised Mr Hoifeldt to find out
fees and what percentage the zoning administrator is paid for these
inspections.
A request was made that the City pay the annual membershin fee of
$60.00 for Brian Redshaw's membership in the Lions Club.It was
the Council's consensus not to pay these dues.

A discussion was held on further development within the City limits.
No action was taken.

March 10,1987
The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
at 7:30 p.m.on March 10,1987 by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
Brian J.Redshaw was present and taking minutes.
A roll call was taken and the following Councilmen were present:
Tovrea,Hoifeldt,and Stork.Absent:Gruber and Brown.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Tovrea,to approve the minutes of
February 10,17 and 24.Carried 3 toO.
The following guests and staff were present:Bill Inman,Roger
Buffington,Paul E Huscher,Arnold Borchers,Bart "eller,Roger
Anderson,Virginia Clark,Leigh Davis,Scott Thomas,James Ash,
Josephine Barnes,Ben Phillips,Dick Applegate,Kelly Gruber,
Mark Gruber,Nick Gruber,Don Henson,Terry Jilek,Tim Hagner,
Brian Slaughter and Bonnie Palmer.
Bill Inman of Woodwright Construction talked to the Counci]regarding
the development of Mary Ann Estates Plat 3.Mr Inman will meet with
the Waukee-Planning &Zoning Commission on March 17.He also
reported on the progress of the intermediate care facility which
would have a 60 bed nursing home and 48 units of elderly housing.
Bart Weller,prestdent of the Waukee Jay-Cees,spoke to the Council
concerning the 2nd annual 4th of July celebration.He requested
$600.00 from the City for this event.
Moved by Tovrea,second by Hoifeldt,to approve a $600.00 expend-
iture for the July 4 celebration.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Stork,to approve the Treasurer's
report.Carried 3 to O.
Fire Chief,Scott Thomas,reported that the fire tank repair was
done satisfactorily.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Tovrea,to approve the bill present-
ation as follows:
