HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-06-03-Special MinutesJune 6,1987---cont WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Iowa,desires to annex said territory upon the Application heretofore presented; NOW,THEREFORE,IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa as follows: 1.That the Application for Annexation of the real estate as des- cribed in Exhibit "A"attached hereto is hereby approved. 2.That upon approval by the City Development Board this territory shall thereafter be and become a part of the City of Waukee,Iowa. 3.That the Clerk shall forthwith cause this Resolution and the exhibit attached hereto be filed with the City Development Board as required by Section 368.7 of the 1985 Code of Iowa. Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa the 6th day of June,1987,and approved this 6th day of June 1987. A roll call vote was as follows: Ayes:Tovrea,Hoifeldt,Stork Nays:Gruber Absent:Brown Motion carried 3 to 1. Moved by Gruber,second by Hoifeldt,to adjourn at 8:25 a.m.Carried 4 to O. A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was held June 3,1987 and was called to order at 7:05 p.m.by Mayor pro-tern,Jerry Brown. Brian J.Redshaw was present and taking minutes. A roll call was taken and the following Councilmen were present: Tovrea,Brown,Hoifeldt and Stork.Absent:Gruber. Guests and staff at this meeting were:Gordon Doerr,Larry Crane, Ray Clark,Remo Nizzi,Mark Broderick,Harry Copeland,Roger Buffing- ton,Nick Gruber,11ark Casey and Dick Applegate. The City Council resumed discussion on the proposed water line ease- ment and annexation of property 'owned by Larry Crane and Clyde Corne- lius.Roger Buffington listed the following costs for water service line installation: 1.1"plastic service line---------$5.00 per linear foot 2.2"plastic service line---------$5.50 per linear foot 3.1"K copper service line--------$5.50 to $6.00 per linear foot 4.2"K copper service line--------$7.00 to $8.00 per linear foot The Council discussed the installation of a 8"water line on the road adjacent to these properties at a cost of $12.00 per linear foot. Total cost of the 8"line would be $5220.00 which would provide for future expansion capability.The service lines could be installed for approximately $2000.00,The entire project would cost $7220.00. Moved by Stork,second by Tovrea,to run 8"water down the county road and extend 1"water services to Clyde Cornelius and Larry Crane (at the city's cost)and run a gas main on the road with 'services at their cost.Carried 4 to O~ Moved by Tovrea,second by Stork,to have Red Cross Swimming lessons in Adel at $4.50 per child.'Carried 4 toO. A proposed golf course north of Hickman Road between East St.and Alice's Road was discussed by the City Council. Moved by Tovrea,second by Hoifeldt,to adjourn at 8:45p.m.Carried 4 to O. June 9,1987 The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order on June 9,1987 at 7:30 p.m.by Mayor Gordon Christianson.Brian J.Redshaw was present and taking minutes. A roll call was taken and the following C01IDcilmen were present: Gruber,Tovrea,Hoifeldt and Stork.Absent:Brown. The following guests and staff were also pres~nt:Roger Buffington, Rick Ross,Pat Robbins,Nick Gruber,Geneva and Harvey Burger, Wendy H.ansen-Wagner,Ron Olson,Bill Weeks,Brian Slaughter,Dick Schwartz,Dick Watson,l1ichael M Douglas,Mark Broderick,Phil Broderick,Walt Hinkson,Jim Berner,Ray Nizzi,Gary Kraft,Floyd Rosenkranz,Gordon Doerr,Joe Brick,Leigh Davis,.Don Bassett. Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Gruber,to approve the minutes of May 12 and 27.Carri.ed 4 toO. Pat Robbins of the Waukee Booster Club presented a request for f1IDds to finance the softball complex.Brian Redshaw indicated that,due to construction on the Middle School.this summer,there would not be a summer recreation program.Out of the $2100.00 of .allocated funds,Philana Grier h8;d requested reserving $900.00 for the Senior Citizen .Program. Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Tovrea,to appropriate $1200.00 to the Waukee Booster Club for the softball complex.Carried 4 to O. A public hearing on proposed plans and specifications,proposed form of contract and estimate of cost for the construction of Waukee,Iowa-1987 ~ast Street water main for the City of Waukee, Iowa and the taking of bids for such construction was held as pub- lished in the Dallas County News.Mayor Christianson asked the audience for any questions or objections to the proposed plans and specifications.Brian Slaughter of 110 Corene Ave.expressed his concerns about saving his poplar trees and utility shed which were constructed on the 20'utility easement.The City Engineer indic- ated that he would work wit~the contractor regarding the possib--- ility of avoiding these obstacles. S.L Baumeier Co Lawson Cons t , $50,961.00 $57,645.20 $60,842.50 $62,On.00 $66,625.00 $72,660:00' The City Council referred these bids to the City Engineer to verify the totals and to the City Attorney to review the bonds and take action later in the meeting. Mr.Dick Watson of Lincoln,Nebraska and Mr M M Douglas of West Des Moines spoke to the Council regarding t~e proposed golf course and housing project north of Waukee.They indicated their project would be similar to the Lake Panorama golf course.
