A special meeting of theWaukee City Council was called to order
at 5:30 p.m.by Mayo r Gordon ..Christianson ..
The following Councilmen were present:Gruber,Hoifeldt,a.nd..'
Brown.Absent:Tovrea.and Stark.
Guests:Bob Christianson,Sugar Creek Partnership.
Bob'~hristianson requested final plat approval for Sugar Creek
Acres located approximately 1-3/4 miles south of Waukee.The
Planning &Zoning Commission had approved the plat on August 25.
Hoved by Hoifeldt,second by Brown,to adopt the following
resolution:

Waukee Planning and Zoning Commission and the Waukee Planning
and'Zoning Commission has approve this Plat on August 25,1987,

WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,at a special meeting on September
2,1987,approve final Plat,Sugar Creek Acres,Dallas County,
Iowa.

The·regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
at 7:30p.m.on September 8,1987 by Hayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was taken and all Councilmen were present.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Paul Huscher,Remo Nizzi,
Ann Ford,Brian Redshaw,Jim Kern,Arnold Borchers,Roger Buffington,
Rick Ross,Bart Weller,Ronald Olson,Rod Schmidt,Ray and Virginia
Clark,Wendy Hansen-Hagner,Leigh Davis,Tim Wagner,Nick Gruber,
l1ark Broderick,Harry Copeland,Don Henson,Dick Applegate,and
Ray Rinard.
110ved by Hoifeldt,second by Stork,to approve the minutes of
August 11,31 and September 2.Carried 5 to O.
Rod Schmidt of the Waukee Jay-Cees spoke to the Council regarding
a new shelter house at the park.The amount requested from the City
on this project was $3382.00.
Moved by Gruber,second by Hoifedlt,to set October 13,1987 at
7:30p.m.for a budget hearing.Carried 4 to l--Stork voting No.
Virginia Clark of the Waukee Library Board presented petitions to
request rural area representation on the Board and terms to change
from 6 years to 3 years.to be on the ballot November 3.The petitions
were received and filed.

The Mayor asked for questions or comments ..Questions and comments
were heard from Nick Gruber,Remo Nizzi,Ronald Olson,Rick Ross,
and Arnold Borchers.
Moved by Tovrea,second by Stork,not to enter into an annexation
moratorium with Clive.Carried 5 to O.

Moved by Tovrea,second by Brown,to direct Paul Huscher to pursue
resistance and prepare to be heard on the involuntary annexation
petition from Clive at the hearing of the City Development Board
on September 16.Carried 5 to O.
A hearing was held,as published,on the gas rate ordinance amendment.
The Mayor asked for questions or comments and none were received.
Councilman Stork introduced an Ordinance entitled:"AN ORDINANCE

It was moved by Councilman Hoifeldt,and seconded by Councilman
Tovrea,that the Ordinance entitled:"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER
202,WAUKEE 11UNICIPAL CODE,PROVIDING RATES FOR GAS FURNISHED
USERS BY THE 11UNICIPAL GASliTORKS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM OF THE CITY
OF WAUKEE,IOWA"be now read by the City Clerk.The Mayor put
the question on the motion,and the roll being,called,the following

RATES FOR GAS FURNISHED USERS BY THE lillNICIPAL GASWORKS DISTRIBUTION
SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section L Section 202,.1 of Chapter 202 1iTaukeeMunicipal Code,
establishing rates for gas furnished users by the municipal gasworks
distribution system of the City of Waukee,Iowa,is hereby amended
by deleting the ,"Firm Residential and Commercial"Table from Section
202.2 and inserting in lieu thereof the following:,.
Firm Residential and Commercial
Monthly
First 500 cu.ft.or less $2.81 per CCF
Next 1500 C'u.,ft..71 per CCF
Next 8000 cu.ft..52 per CCF
Over 10,000 cu.ft..50 per CCF
Minimum Monthly Charge $2.81

Brian Redshaw reported on prices for water filter repair.
Council directed him ~o get bids on this project.
Jerry Brown gave the Public Safety report.
Frank Hoifeldt gave the Utilit·ies Committee report,advising that
they would meet September 10 with the Des Moines Waterworks.
The
Mayor Christianson commended Sam Drost and Tim Royer,part time
summer workers,on their fine jobs.
Brian Redshaw gavethe Administrator's report.
