November 5,1987
A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
on November 5,1987 at 7:00 p.m.by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
Brian J.Redshaw was present and taking minutes.
A roll call was held and all Councilmen were present except Tovrea.
The Council took up and considered the proposed construction of
improvements and extensions to the Municipal Waterworks System.
Council member Gruber introduced the following resolution herein-
after set out entitled:"Resolution to provide for a notice of
hearing on proposed plans,specifications,proposed form of contract
and estimate of cost for the construction of improvements and ex-
tensions to the Municipal Waterworks System,and the taking of bids
therefor",and moved its adoption,seconded by Council member Stork.
After due consideration thereof by the Council,the Mayor put the
question'on the motion and the roll being called,the following
named members of the Council voted:
Ayes:Gruber,Brown,Hoifeldt,Stork
Nays:None recorded
Absent:Tovrea
Whereupon,the Mayor declared the said motion duly carried and the
said resolution adopted as follows:
RESOLUTION NO.65
Tb provide for a notice of hearing on proposed plans and specifications
and proposed form of contract,and estimate of cost for the construct-
ion of improvements and extensions to the Municipal Waterworks System,
and the taking of bids therefor
WHEREAS,the City of ,Waukee,Iowa,has heretofore established a
Municipal Waterworks System,and it is necessary and desirable that
said Municipal Waterworks System be improved and extended and such
improvements and extensions are for the best 'Lnt.erest s of the City and
may be hereafter referred to as the "Waukee,Iowa -1987 Annexation
Area Water Main Project"(and are sometimes hereinafter referred to as
the "Project"),such Project to be as described in and to be contracted
for and completed in accordance with the proposed plans and specifica-
tions and form of contract prepared by Snyder &Associates,Inc.,the
engineers for the Project,such proposed plans ,specifications and form
of contract,and estimate of co st;being on file with the City Clerk;
and
WHEREAS,it is necessary to fix a time and place of public hearing
on the proposed plans,specifications and form of contract and estimated
cost for the Project and to advertise for sealed bids for the Project;
NOW,THEREFORE,Be It Resolved by the City Council of the City
of Waukee,Iowa,as follows:
Section 1.The detailed plans and specifications,notice of
hearing and notice to bidders,form of contract and estimate of cost,
referred to in the preamble hereof be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2.The Project is necessary and desirable for the City,
and it is in the best interests of the City to proceed toward the
construction of the Project.
Section 3.The amount of the bid security to accompany each bid
is hereby fixed at 10%of the amount of the proposal.
Section 4.The 24th day of November,1987 at 7:00 p.m.,at the
City Hall,Waukee,Iowa,is hereby fixed as the time and place of
hearing on the proposed plans,specifications,form of contract and
estimate of cost for the Project,and also as the time and place of
receiving,opening and considering bids in connection therewith.

Section 5.The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to.gtve ~ot~ce,of the aforementioned hearing and taking of bids by
PUOL~c~t~on of such notice in a newspaper of general circulation
in·the City,which publication shall be made not less than four
nor more than twenty days prior to the time of the said hearing,
all in conformity with Chapters 362 and 384 of the Code of Iowa.
The said notice shall be in the form substantially as attached to
this resolution.
Section 6.All provisions set out in the following form
of notice are hereby recognized and prescribed by this Council
and all resolutions or orders or parts thereof,to the extent
the same may be in conflict herewith,are hereby repealed.
Passed and approve this 5th day of November,1987.
On behalf of the City of Waukee,Mayor Gordon Christianson pre-
sented the 1987 Citizen Of The Year award to Remo Nizzi.He
made the following Declaration:
DECLARATION
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee recognizes that Remo Nizzi has been
named Citizen of the Year for 1987 and as Hayor of the City of
Waukee,I do hereby declare November 6,1987 as Remo Nizzi Day
in the City of Waukee,Iowa.

Moved by Tovrea,second by Stork,to adjourn at 7:40 p i m,Carried

The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to orderemNovember10,1987 at 7:30 p.m.by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was held and all Councilmen were present.

Moved by Tovrea,second by Gruber,to approve tile minutes of
October 13,with correction of addition error in budget amendment
from $2,009,462 to $2,012,854,October 23,28 and November 5.

Moved by Stork,second by.Gruber,to approve the Treasurer's
report.Carried 5 to O.
