L.D.McMullen and Randy Beavers of the Des Moines Waterworks spoke to the Council regarding the potential sales of water to Waukee.Anticipated delivery date would be July,1989. Moved by Tovrea,second by Stork,to commit the City of Waukee to buy water from the Des Moines Haterworks.Carried 4 to O. Ed Huntley of KAL,Inc.indicated that the apparent low bidder, A &L Underground,Inc.,quoted a 6"coated steel pipe price which was 33%lower than the competition.He recommended con- tacting them and confirming the bid amount prior to awarding the contract. Moved by Gruber,second by Tovrea,to adjourn the meeting until 7:00 p.m.on Thursday,December 17,to continue their consider- ation of the bids and award the contract on the High Pressure Natural Gas Feeder Main Project.Carried 4 to'O. Heeting adjourned. December 17,1987 The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was reconvened at 7:00 p.m.on December 17,1987 and called to order by Mayor pro-tern,Jerry Brown. A roll call was taken and all Councilmen were present except Stork and Mayor Gordon Christianson. The Council further considered proposals received for the pro- posed Waukee,Iowa,1987 High Pressure Natural Gas Feeder Main Project and embodied its findings in the resolution next herein- after referred to. Council Member Gruber introduced a resolution entitled:"Resol- ution awarding contract for the Waukee,Iowa7l987 High Pressure Natural Gas Feeder Main Proejct",and moved that the said resol- ution be adopted;seconded by Council Member Tovrea;and after due consideration thereof by the Council,the Mayor pro tern put the question on the motion and the roll being called,the follow- ing named members of the Council voted: Ayes:Hoifeldt,Brown,Tovrea,Gruber Nays:None recorded Absent:Stork ,fuer~upon,the Hayo r pro-tern declared the said motion duly carried and the said resolution duly adopted. RESOLUTION NO.69 Awarding contract for the Waukee,Iowa-1987 High Pressure Natural Gas Feeder Main Project ,VHEREAS,pursuant to notice duly published in the manner and form prescribed by resolution of this Council and as required by law,bids and proposals were received by this Council for the Waukee,Iowa-1987 High Pressure Natural Gas Feeder Main Project (the "Proj ect");and . HHEREAS,all of 17he said bids and proposals have been care- fully considered,and it is necessary and adviseable that pro- vision be made for the award of the contract for the Project; NOW,THEREFORE,IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council of'the City of Waukee,Iowa,as followq: December 17,1987---cont Section 1.The bid for the Project submitted by the following contractor is fully responsive to the plans and specifications for the Project,heretofore approved by the Council,and is in the best interests of the City,such bid being as follows: Name and Address of Contractor Amount of Bid A &L·Underground,Inc. POBox 878 Olathe,Kansas 66061 $160,815.00 Section 2.The contract for the Project be and the same is hereby awarded to such contractor at the total estimated cost set out above,the final settlement to be made on the basis of the unit prices therein set out and the actual final quantities of each class of materials furnished,the said contract to be subject to the terms of the aforementioned resolution,the notice of hearing and letting, the plans and specifications and the terms of the bidder's written proposal. Section 3.the Hayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and ordered to enter into a written contract with said contractor for the Project,said contract not to be binding until approved by resolution of the Council. Section 4.The amount of the contractor's performance and/or payment bonds is hereby fixed and determined to be 100%of the amount of the contract. Passed and approvei this 17th day of December,1987. On Dec'Slmber29,1987,Gordon Christianson was sworn in as Mavor by City Clerk,Brian Redshaw.His 2 year term is to become effective January i ,1988. On December 29,1987,Floyd Rosenkranz was sworn in as City Councilman by City Clerk,Brian Redshaw.His 4 year term is to become effective January 1,1988. On December 30,1987,JerryL.Brown was sworn in as City Council- man by City Clerk,Brian Redshaw.His!+year term is to become effective January 1,1988. January 4,1988 A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order on January 4,1988 at 7:04 p.m.by Hayor Gordon Christianson.Brian J ..Redshaw was present and taking minutes. A roll call was taken and the following Council members were present: Stork,Hoifeldt and Rosenkranz.Absent:Gruber and Brown. Guests present were:Chet Chedester,.LarryPhillips and John DorieLl y , Moved by Stork,second by Hoifeldt,to approve Brenton State Bank as the official depository and Raccoon Valley State Bank,Valley National Bank and American Federal as alternates.Carried 3 to O. Hcve d by Stork,second by Rosenrkanz,to appoint the Dallas County News.as the official publication with Des 110ines Register as alternate.Carried 3 to O..
