February 9,1988
The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
at 7:30 p.m.on February 9,1988 by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was taken and all Councilmen were present except Gruber.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Art Spencer,Don Henson,
Roger Buffington,Ann Ford,Brian Redshaw,Paul Huscher,Chet Ched-
ester,Jeff Abbas,Bill Weeks,Dennis Langel,Dick Applegate and
Terry Jilek.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Brown,to approve minutes of January
12 and 29.Carried 4 toO.
Chet Chedester spoke to the Council regarding a gas refund.
Moved by Stork,second by Rosenkranz,to approve the Treasurer's
report.Carried 4 to O.

A budget .amendment hearing was held as published in the Dallas
County News.The Mayor asked for questions or comments.None were
received.
Moved by Brown,second by Rosenkranz,to adopt Resolution No.72 as
follows:
A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CURRENT BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING
JUNE 30,1988 AS AJfENDED LAST ON OCTOBER 13,1987.
Be It Resolved by the Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa:
Section 1.Following notice published February 4,1988 and the
public hearing held February 9,1988,the current budget (as prev-
iously amended)is amended as set out herein and in the detail by
fund and activity that supports this resolution which was considered
at that hearing:

Rosenkranz voting No.
No action was taken on the Golden Spur liquor license since papers
had not been turned in.

CODE,REGULATION OF TRAFFIC UPON,AND USE OF THE STREETS
OF VIAUKEE,IOWA,BY At,jENDINGSECTION 501.18,SCHEDULE A,
TO INCLUDE AS A 4-WAY STOP INTERSECTION,THE INTERSECTION
OF 6th STREET AND LOCUST STREET;BY ADDING SCHEDULE A TO
SECTION 501.20B;AND BY DELETING SCHEDULE B FROt,jSECTION

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:_.
Section 1.Section 501.18,Schedule A,4-Way Stop
Intersections,of Chapter 501 Waukee Municipal Code,Regu-
lations of Traffic Upon,and Use of the Streets of Waukee,
Iowa,is hereby amended by adding thereto "6th Street and
Locust Street".
Section 2.Section 501.20B,of said Chapter,is
amended by adding thereto Schedule A as follows:
SCHEDULE A
School Stop Intersections
In accordance with this Section the stop signs
shall be placed at the following street inter-
sections between the hours of 7:30 a.m and 4:30
p.m.,Monday through Friday inclusive of each
school day each week during which school is in
session in the City of Waukee,Iowa:
1.At the crosswalk 349.0 feet south of
the South line of Ashworth Drive on 4th
Street controlling traffic on 4th
Street.
2.At the intersection of 5th Street and
Locust Street,controlling traffic on
Locust Street.
3.At the intersection of East Road and
Bel Aire Drive,controlling traffic on
East Road.

No action was taken on the street lighting proposal for Walnut
Ridge.
Moved by Stork,second by Brown,to approve the installation of
a fire hydrant on the east sign of lS2nd Street adjacent to Ron
Olson's property,at a later date and permit the free water hookup.
Carried 4 to D.
Frank Hoifeldt gave the Parks Committee report.He reported on
meeting with Little League who would like the City's permission
to make improvements to the fields.A letter of permission will
be sent.
Jerry Brown gave the Public Safety report.
Joe Stork gave the Utilities Committee report with recommendations
from the Committee given.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Rosenkranz,,to draw up specs and
receive bids on painting of 500 M water tower.Carried 4 toO.
There was no Hayor's report or Administrator's report.
Moved by Stork,second by Brown,to adjourn at 9:40 p.m.Carried
