A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order at
7:00 porno by Mayor pro-tern,Floyd Rosenkranz.Brian Redshaw was present
and taking minutes.
A roll call was taken and the following Councilmen were present:Gruber,
Rosenkranz and Hoifeldt.Absent:Brown,Stork and Mayor Christianson.
A base budget for FY 88-89 was presented by the City Administrator.The
items included were basic operational items and reflected a 5%,across
the board,increase 0 The Budget Committee presented 7 items for dis-
cussion for their inclusion in the budgeL
Moved by Gruber,second by Hoifeldt,to set aside $25,000.00 for the
500M interior and exterior tower repainting project.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Gruber,to set aside $7176.00 for a Walnut
Ridge street lighting project.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Hoifeldt ,i second by Rosenkranz,to include $3050.00 for 1/2
of the school crossing guard program.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Gruber,second by Hoifeldt,to include $24,717.51 for a 5th
police officer.Motion failed 0 to 3.'
Moved by Gruber,second by Rosenkranz,to set aside $12,500.00 in the
Capitol Improvements budget for a 1988 Ford LTD Crown Victoria police
car.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Gruber,second.by Hoifeldt,to appropriate $2000,OQ for replace-
ment Christmas decorations.Motion failed.O to 30
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Rosenkranz,to appropriate $12,000.00 for
City planning services.Carried 2 to l--Gruber voting No.
Moved by Gruber,second by Hoifeldt,.to set March 8,1988 at 7:30 p.m.
for the FY 88-89 budget hearing and direct the City Clerk to publish
the required notice in the Dallas County News.Carried 3 to O.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Gruber,to adjourn at 8:15 p.m.Carried
3 to O.

Corrections were made to the February 9 minutes to change the gas
rate .ordinance to Ordinance #2092,bill presentation total from
$32,5,31.79 to $36,813.59,change the December 8,1987 resolution .to
68A and the December 15,1987 resolution to 68B.
Moved by Stork,second by Gruber,to approve corrected minutes of
February 9 and 29.Carried 4 to O.
