Mark Broderick requested water service to Lot 6 of the Waukee
Development Corporation.No action was taken.
Roger Buffington spoke to the Council regarding off-street
parking requirements.Paul Huscher advised the City Council
that the Board of Adjustment had acted outside it's powers
in granting a variance for on-street parking in lieu of the
off-street parking requirements.The City Council advised
Bob Christianson and Gary Smith that the off-street parking
requirements,as set forth in the Zoning Ordinance,would be
s.trictly adhered to.
Moved by Stork,second by Rosenkranz,to approve the easement
agreement with Grace Hawbaker as amended.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Stork,second by Hoifeldt,to approve the preliminary
plat of Hidden Valley Estates with 4"water lines and dry
hydrants installed with Fire Chief's approval.A rollcall

The City Clerk advised the Council that the Mayor had vetoed

The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to
order at 7:30 p.m.by Mayor Gordon Christianson.
A roll call was held and all Councilmen were present.

Joe Brick spoke to the Council about the rezoning of his property,
located on the southeast corner of Highway 6 and l62nd St,from
A-I to M-l.Mr.Brick had met with P &Z and they approve this
rezoning.

Sam Downey,spokesperson from the U .A.H.Union,thanked the
City for use of the fire station and volunteered help for
cleanups and odd jobs around the City.
Ed Huntley of KAL,Inc.spoke to the Council regarding gas line
at Southfork.He suggested the City purchase the materials for
the pressure reduction station and have the contractor install
them.He also recolnmended that the PRS be located 50'from
Southfork Drive rather than the 300'to 400'recommended by the
subdeveloper.
Randy Foster,chairman of P &Z,gave P &Z's recommendation that
parking in C-2 zones be uniform.No action was taken.

Storage Tank Painting Project.
Upon investigation,it was found that no persons had appeared
and filed objections to the proposed plan,specificiations or
contract contract for or cost of such Waukee,Iowa~1988 Eleva-
ted Storage Tank Painting Project.
Council Member Rosenkranz intrudced the following resolution and
moved its adoptiong,seconded by Council Member Brown';and after
due consideration thereof by the Council,the Mayor put the
question upon the motion and the roll being called,the following
named members of the Council voted:

Finally approving and confirming plans,specifications and form
of contract for the Waukee,Iowa-1988 Elevated Storage Tank
Painting Project
IVHEREAS,this Council has heretofore approve plans,spec-
ifications and form of contract for the proposed Waukee,
Iowa-1988 Elevated Storage Tank Painting Project (the
"Project")as described in the resolution providing for
a notice of hearing on proposed 'plans and specifications,
proposed form of contract and estimate cost fo~the Project
and the taking of bids therefor;and
WHEREAS,hearing has been held on objections to the pro-
posed plans,specifications and form of'contract and to
the cost of the Project and all objections thereto have
been overruled;
NOW,THEREFORE,IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Waukee,Iowa,as follows:
Sectionl.The plans,specifications and form of contract
referred to in the preamble hereof by and the same are hereby
finally approved,and the prior action of the Council approving
them is hereby finally confirmed,and the Project,as provided
for in the plans,specifications and form of contract,is
necessary and desireable.
Section 2.All resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the
extent of such conflict;

It was moved by Council Hember Hoifeldt and seconded by Council
Hember Stork that the Mayor and the City Clerk proceed with the
opening of such proposals as had been filed,after first ascer-
taining that the bid security accompanied each such proposal.

Linda Lemona of the Waukee PTA spoke to the Council regarding
sidewalks.A lengthy discussion-was held.The PTA requested
a pub~ic hearing.

sidewalks.l1otion failed for lack of a second.
The PTA had gone to the school board regarding the Crossing
Guard program and they had made no decision.PTA will check
with other schools to find out more about costs.

vlliEREAS,pursuant to notice duly published in the manner
and form prescribed by resolution o'f this Council and as requir-
ed by law,bids and proposals were received by this Council for
the Waukee,Iowa-1988 Elevated Storage Tank Painting Project
(the "Project");and
WHEREAS,all of the said bids and proposals have been care-

fully considered,and it is necessary and advisable that pro-
vision be made for the award of the contract for the Project;
NOW,THEREFORE,IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Waukee-,Iowa,as follows:
Section 1.The bids for the Proj ect submitted by the
following contractor is fully responsive to the plans and
specifications for the Project,heretofore approved by the
Council,and is in the best interests of the City,such bid
being as follows:

IONS AS TO THE DALLAS COUNTY LANDFILL.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Section 213.3 of Chapter 213 Waukee Muni-
cipal Code,Regulations and Licensing of Commercial Haul-
ers of Refuse and Penalties for Violations,is hereby
amended by deleting the words "and a statement that the
commercial hauler will not haul refuse to the Dallas
County Landfill other than refuse collected lB Dallas
County"and shall read as follows:
§213.3 Application for License.An application in
vr i t.i nq shall be filed with the City Clerk
for a license under this ordinance.Such ap-
plication shall set forth the applicant's
name,permanent and local address,business
address,if any,a description and license
number of the vehicle to be used for hauling,
and shall be accompanied by a certification
from an insurance company,authorized to

Iowa,that such applicant has liability insu-
rance in the minimum araount;of $100,000.00
per person,$300,000.00 per accident,and
$25,000.00 property damage on the vehicle to

The owner.of the property,Joe Brick,spoke to the Council and
introduced Jim Tyler,president of Atlantic Bottling.Mr Tyler
explained their operation and proposed plans for the area in
question.They asked for no tax ab a t emerrt,Bill Mains spoke
in opposition,citing the fact that no master plan has been
completed for the newly annexed area.
