HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-06-07-Special Minutes264 May ~4,1988---cont WHEREAS,pursuant to notice duly published in the manner and form prescribed by resolution of this Council and as required by law,bids and proposals were received by this Council for the Waukee,Iowa-1988 Southfork Addition Natural Gas Distribution Project (the "Project");and WHEREAS,all of the said bids and proposals have been care- fully considered,and it is necessary and adviseab1e that pro- vision be made for the award of the contract for the Project; NOW,THEREFORE,IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,as follows: Section 1.The bid for the Project submitted by the following contractor is fully responsive to the plans and spec- ifications for the Project,heretofore approved by the Council, and is in the best interests of the City,such bid being as follows: -.. Name and Address of Contractor Amount of Bid A &L Underground,Inc. POBox 878 Olathe,Kansas 66061 $59,267.67 Section 2.The contract for the Project be and the same is hereby awarded to such contractor at the total estimated cost set out above,the final settlement to be made on the basis of the unit prices therein set out and the actual final quantities of each class of materials furnished,the said contract to be sub- ject to the terms of the aforementioned resolution,the notice of hearing and letting the plans and specifications and the terms of the bidder's written proposal. Section 3.The Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and ordered to enter into a written contract with said contractor for the Project,said contract not to be biriding until approved by reso1~tion of the Council. Section 4.The amount of the contractor's performance and! or payment bonds is hereby fixed and determined to be 100%of the amount of the contract. Passed and approved this 24th day of May,1988. A roll call was taken and the following named City Councilmen were present:Gruber,Brown,Hoife1dt and Oetting.Absent: Rosenkranz and Mayor Christianson. June 7,1988---cont '265 Guests and staff present were: Brian Redshaw,Joe Brick,James Pat Green. Paul E Huscher,Roger Buffington, Tyler,Kirk Tyler,Ned Brown and The City Council discussed various funding options for the street, gas and water projects for a proposed Coca-Cola facility to be located at the corner of 162nd St and Highway 6.The Council discussed the following 6 options: 1)General Obligation Bonds 2)Revenue Bonds 3)Special Assessment Bonds 4)Tax Increment Financing 5)Developer can install and dedicate to City 6)Grant Funding Hoved by Gruber,second by Brown,to immediately proceed with the applications for all grants possible locating the public gas and "ater lines a reasonable distance within the property line.A roll call vote was taken as follows: Ayes:Gruber,Brown,Hoife1dt,Oetting Nays:None recorded Absent:Rosenkranz 110ved by Gruber,second by Brown,to immediately proceed with a RISE application for the street project at the maximum funming level.A roll call vote was taken as follows: Ayes:Gruber,Brown,Hoife1dt,Oetting Nays:None recorded Absent:Rosenkranz The City Engineer was authorized to survey Hine Road (162nd St) for use in the RISE application. June 14,1988 The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order on June 14,1988 at 7:30 p.m.by Hayor pro-tern,Floyd Rosenkranz.Brian J.Redshaw was present and taking minutes. A roll call was taken and the following Councilmen were present: Gruber,Brown,Rosenkranz,Hoife1dt and Oetting.Abs en t:Hayor Christianson. Guests and staff at this meeting were:Paul Huscher,Roger Buffington,Rick Ross,Don Henson,Ben Phillips,Jim Thompson, Same Drost,Linda Wilson,Nick Gruber,Randy Foster,Lloyd Royer, John Clark,Hark Broderick and Torn Gratias. Hoved by Brown,second by Hoife1dt,to approve the minutes of Hay 10,Hay 24 and June 7.Carried 5 to-a. Chet Chedester nresented a netition with 300 names for a special election on the-question of-a Utility Board. Tim Wagner,president of the Waukee Jay-Cees,presented a pro- posal for 400 pounds of beef with a cost estimate of $750.00 for Fun Day on-July 2.
