Jerry Brown gave the Public Safety report.
There was no Parks or Utilities Committee reports.
Brian Redshaw reported that Bill Byers had requested water for
his sad field.It was the Council's consensus not to allow it
at this time.

A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
on July 26,1988 by Hay o'r pro-tem,Floyd Rosenkranz.Brian J.
Redshaw was present and taking minutes.
A roll call was held and all Councilmen were present except
Gruber.
The following guests and staff were present at this meeting:
Roger Buffington,Bill Hikesch,Kelly Lint,Jeff Abbas,Leroy
Coffey,Lloyd Royer,Pat Coffey,Paul Huscher,Kirk Tyler,Ben
Phillips,Mark Broderick and Nick Gruber.
A hearing was held,as published in the Dallas County News,on
the proposed rezoning of Corene Acres plat #11 from A-I to R-2.
Councilman Hoifeldt introduced an Ordinance entitled:"All
ORDINANCE MffiNDING TIlE ZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN TIIE
CITY LINITS OF vJAUKEE,I01JA FROH A-I (AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT)TO R-2
(TIm FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT):AllD PROVIDING FOR THE Al1EllD-
HEN OF THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP AND TIlE REPUBLICATION OF SAID
HAP TO REFLECT SAID ZOHING CHANGE~".
It was moved by Councilman Brown,and seconded by Councilman
Rosenkranz,that the Ordinance entitled:"AN ORDINANCE MffiHDING

Lloyd Royer spoke to the Council regarding the gas line
project at ,'JalnutRidge.The City Council advised him
that the City could do the work at a later date on a time
and materials basis.
Nick Gruber spoke to the Council regarding a street dance
commemorating the 50th anniversary .o f the Haukee Fire Dept.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Oetting,to approve a street
dance on the triangle for August 27th from 8:00 p.m.to
12:00 p.m.with a rain date of September 2lf.Carried 4 to
O.
Moved by Oetting,second by Rosenkranz,to waive the building
permit fee for the Haukee Firemen's Association building fund
sign on the triangle.Carried 4 to O.
Mayor pro-tem,Floyd Rosenkranz,asked Kirk Tyler of Atlantic
Bottling about the proposed time schedule for the Coca-Cola
distribution £acility on the corner of Hip;hway 6 and 162nd St.
Tom Simmering .0£Simeiine and Cory is to contact Jim Tyler
for info:i:matiorion tax increment financinr;for presentation
at the August 9 regular City Council meeting.
Moved by Brown,second by Oetting,to approve contracts,bonds
and authorize the Mayor pro-tem to execute the 1988 Street

Moved by Brown,second by Oetting,to approve a Class C liquor
license and Sunday sales privilege for Pronto Store.Carried
4 toO.
Moved by Brown,second by Hoifeldt,to appoint Don Henson
to the Public Safety Committee to replace Judy Henson.Carried
4 to O.
Roger Buffington advised the Council that work-is continuing
on the Walnut Ridge water project and hope that a hearing date
could be set on August 9.
Moved by Brown,second by Rosenkranz,to approve the Des Moines
Waterworks agreement as submitted.A roll call vote was taken
as follows:

Brian Redshaw submitted a proposed gas superintendent job
description as submitted by KAL,Inc.The Council directed
Mr.Redshaw to expand the'job description to include the duties
of Public Works Director.
The City Council reviewed the plans for a proposed Highway 6
widening project ..as presented by E R Mills of the D.O.T.
The Council indicated some interest in attending a D.O.T.
meeting in October showing their support for expanding Highway 6
from 2 to 4 lanes between Waukee and Clive.

The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to
order at 7:33 p.m.on August 9,1988 by Mayor pro-tern,Floyd
Rosenkranz.
A roll call was held and all Councilmen were present.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Harry Russell,Ben
Phillips,Don Henson,Danny Bever,Jared Bever,Brian Redshaw,
Harry Jones,Mark Roginski,Nick Gruber,Bill Forbes,Kelly Lint,
Bob Christianson,Pat Green,Barb Herron,Bill Carmody,Jackie
Reynolds,Jim Broderick,Virginia Clark,Jeff Abbas,Tom Gratias,
Josephine Barnes,Wendy Hansen-Wagner,Rick Ross,Dick Applegate,
Paul Huscher,Ann Ford,Larry Phillips,and Mark Broderick.
Moved by Hoifeldt,second by Gruber ,to approve the minutes of
July 12 and 26.Carried 5 to O.
Nick Gruber,representing the Fire Department,advised the
Council that the street dance would be rescheduled to September
17 ,lith the rain date to be September 24.
Barb Herron,Waukee postmaster,spoke with the Council in regard
to mail box placement.
