A special meeting of the IJaukee City Council was 'called to
September 5,1989 at 7:30 p.m.by lfayor Floyd Rosenkranz.

Gruber,Brown,Hoifeldt and Barrett.Absent:Scott.
The l62nd St.streetlight was discussed.The consensus of t~e Council
vJaS to set up the light on the southeast corner.Brian Redshaw is
to contact Iowa Power and have the proposal re-drawn for the existing
pole.

The Council discussed the long te=U.S.G.I1.Agreement.The Utilities
Committee recommended a long term agreement~Paul Huscher advised
the Council on the legal aspects.The Clerk was advised to contact
Bill Houston and ask for a 3 year tern option to renew for 2 successive
terms.

Dallas Cou tty News.He asked for questions or objections.None 1i7ere

PAL CODE OF ORDINANCES BY ADDING SECTION 108.12 CREi'.TING
OFFICE OF PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR AND ESTABLISHING POWERS AND
DUTIES OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Chapter 108 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Waukee,Iowa,is hereby amended by adding thereto
the duties of the public works supervisor as follows:
Under general supervision of the City Clerk to super-
vise,organize,direct and assist a crew of workers in skil-
led and semi-skilled public works and maintenance work;and
to perform related duties as required,including the follow-
ing:
A.Direct,supervise and assist a construction and
maintenance crew in construction,repairing or
maintaining streets,buildings,culverts,curbs and
sidewalks,storm drains,catch basins,and'other
public works structures,install water meters and
lines and maintain same;
B.Direct and assist in installation of gas meters and
lines an&maintain same;
C.Direct and perform general maintenance on City owned
equipment;
D.Supervise and assist in the oiling of roads,black-
topping,the removal of trees and the mowing of
weeds;
E.Supervise and assist in the removal of snow;

F.Supervise and assist in the operation,maintenance
and testing of the sewage system;
G.The public w?rks supervisor shall have the authority
to purchase ltems he deems necessary for his depart-
ment ~ot to exceed $500 per purchase for the admini-

CODE,FINANCES AND RECORDS OF THE CITY OF I\lAUKEE,IOWA,BY
INCREASING THE PURCHASE AUTHORIZATION OF THE CITY CLERK FROM
$500 TO $1,000.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Section 111.7 of Chapter III Waukee Muncipal
Code,Finances and Records.of the City is hereby amended by
deleting §111.7 and substituting in lieu thereof the follow-
ing:
§111.7.Purchas ing-orders..All purchases of ser-
vices,supplies and equipment shall be made
only after issuance of a purchase order,
and no invoice shall be accepted unless
authorized by such an order.Purchases
not exceeding one thousand dollars
($1,000.00)may be made by the Clerk of
those officials authorized by the Clerk,
but only on issuance of a spot purchase
order in writing signed by the authorized
officer.A copy of such spot purchase
order must be delivered to the Clerk within
twenty-four (24)hours,weekends and holi-
days excepted.All other purchases shall
be valid only if a purchase order has been
given in writing and signed by the Clerk.
Purchases from petty cash and continuing
purchases from vendors awarded extended
contracts by bid award shall be excepted.
