March 27,1990
A special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order at
7:00 p.m.on March 27,1990 by Mayor Floyd Ros~n~ranz.All Council-
men were present.Brian J.Redshaw was present and taking minutes.
Guests present were:Virginia Clark,Millie Andrews,Diane Findlay,
Ann Ford,Hannah Weil,Ron Olson,Beth Jansma,Ted Andrews,Jake Keller,
Beth Dalbey,Chuck Garland,George Winfield,Mark Roginske,Mr &Mrs
Tom Clark.
Carolyn Weieneth of Iowa Realty presented an offer in the amount of
$15,000.00 for 675 Ashworth Drive from Jack and Bill Inman.Inmans
request that the City remove the existing dwelling.

The regular meeting of the Waukee Citv Council was called to orde~on
Ap~il 10,1990 at 7:30 p.m.by Mayor Floyd Rosenk~anz.Brian J.
Redshaw was present and taking minutes.

Moved by Scott,second by Clark,to approve the minutes of March 13,
20,and 27.Carried 5 to O.
A new computer system for City Hall was discussed.Various companies
had been interviewed and bids taken.
Moved by Scott,second by Gruber,to approve the bid of $33,337 plus
$300.00 shipping fee from Precision Computer.A roll call vote was
taken as follows:

Jack Wearmouth spoke to the council regarding his planning update.
Floyd Rosenkranz appointed Don Bailey to the Development Code Review I
Committee along with Brian Redshaw,Steve Pierce,Paul Buscher and
Ci ty Engineer.
Larry Bechtel of the Iowa Safety Council spoke to the Council regarding
Workers Right To Know ,?rogram.
Moved by Clark,second by Gruber,to approve the Treasurer's report
as presented.Carried 5 to O.

AND PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP AND THE
REPUBLICATION OF SAID MAP TO REFLECT SAID ZONING CHANGES"be now

Brick Volkmer asked questions regarding the proposed project.Mark
Broderick and Gary Smith spoke about the elderly housing project.
Paul Huscher addressed the legal aspects of platting vs.site plan
approval and Jack Wearmouth apoke regarding essential aspects.
Moved by Scott,second by Gruber,to set April 24,1990 at 7:00 p.m.
for a public hearing on the proposed sale of 675 Ashworth Drive.

Moved by Clark,second by Scott,to set May 8,1990 at 7:30 p.m.for
R-3 rezoning hearing for 675 Ashworth Drive and adjacent properties.

The closing of Northbranch Drive was discussed.Scott Thomas,Fire
Chief,expressed concern about turning around fire trucks at deadend.
Moved by Gruber,second by Clark,to leave the Park opening/closing
dates up to the Public Works Supervisor.
Moved by Scott,second by Bailey,to support the ice cream socials
for June 6,13,20,27,July 4 and 11.Carried 5 to O.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 110,110.1,110.2 AND 110.3 BY AMENDING
THE AMOUNT TO BE PAID TO CITY COUNCIL PERSONS AND MAYOR,AND PROVIDING
THAT THE SALARY OF THE TREASURER WILL BE SET BY RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE,IOWA:
Section 1.Section 110.1 is hereby amended by deleting "$10.00"
from the second line thereof,and inserting in lieu thereof "$20.00";
and by deleting from the fourth line "$15.00"and inserting "$25.00"
in lieu thereof.
Section 2.Section 110.2 is hereby amended by deleting "$80.00"
from the second line thereof and inserting in lieu thereof "$250.00".
Section 3.Section 110.3 is hereby amended by deleting the present
text thereof and inserting in lieu there the following:"The compensa-
tion of the treasurer shall be set by resolution of the Council".
Section 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect
after its final passage,approval and pUblication as required by law.
A letter of resignation was received from Patty King,secretary for
the Police Department.
Moved by Scott,second by Bailey,to accept Patty King's resignation,
effective May 18,1990.Carried 5 to O.•
Moved by Gruber,second by Clark,to approve the transfer of Elizabeth
Ford from City Hall to part-time Police Department secretary.Carried

Moved by Scott,second by Clark,to approve an ad in Des Moines Reg-
ister for secretary/receptionist for City Hall at a salary of $6.50
to increase to $7.00 within 150 days and a 1 year probation period.

MOved by Gruber,second by Clark,to sell natural gas in the Clive
city limits that lie within Dallas County.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Scott,second by Bailey,to approve putting John Gambrall
on permanent status in the maintenance department.Carried 5 to O.

Chief.Carried 5 to O.

fessional competency of an individual whose appointment,hiring,per-
formance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent

The Home Show ad was discussed by the Council.It is anticipated
to cost $1300.00.The City has received commitment from 3 of the
4 parties for 1/4 involvement in the project.City will wait until
May 8 to gain the 4th party's approval and reserve the space.
Moved by Clark,second by Bailey,to approve Nova Graphics bill for
$975.00.Carried 5 to O.
Gruber reported the Parks Committee will meet on April 17 at 7:00
p.m.
The Council heard the Public Safety,Utilities and Development committees
report.
Moved by Clark,second by Barrett,to approve Brian Redshaw's
at May 1-3 Economic Development meeting at the Hotel Savery.

A roll call was taken and all Councilmen were present except Curtis Scott.
Guests and staff at this meeting were:Bill Lissis,Phil Broderick,Kenneth
Booth,Ben Phillips,Gary Smith,Jack Wearmourth,Barry Burt,Jim Berner,
Paul Huscher,Steve Pierce,Larry Phillips and Rick Ross.
The Mayor announced this was the time and place for the hearing on the
proposed sale of 675 Ashworth Drive.No objections were received,written
or oral.
