The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order at
7:30 P.M.by Mayor Floyd W.Rosenkranz.
A roll call was taken and the following named Councilmen were present:
Bailey,Scott,Barrett,and Clark.Absent:Gruber
Councilman Clark introduced an Ordinance entitled:"AN ORDINANCE TO
AMEND CHAPTER 609,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,OTHER CRIMES,BY AMENDING
SECTION 609.10,TO PERMIT THE DISCHARGE OF FIREARMES WITHIN THE CITY OF
WAUKEE ON PROPERTY ZONED A-I,AND TO PROHIBIT THE DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS
WITHIN 200 YARDS OF AN INHABITED BUILDING OR FEEDLOT,AND PROVIDING
DEFINITIONS."
It was moved by Councilman Scott,and seconded by Councilman Bailey,
that the Ordinance entitled:"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 609,WAUKEE
MUNICIPAL CODE,OTHER CRIMES,BY AMENDING SECTION 609.10,TO PERMIT THE
DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS WITHIN THE CITY OF WAUKEE ON PROPERTY ZONED A-I,

ORDINANCE NO.2132
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 609,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
OTHER CRIMES,BY AMENDING SECTION 609.10,TO PERMIT THE
DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS WITHIN THE CITY OF WAU'KEE ON PROPERTY
ZONED A-I,AND TO PROHIBIT THE DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS WITHIN
200 YARDS OF AN INHABITED BUILDING OR FEEDLOT,AND PROVIDING
DEFINITIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Section 609.10,Throwing and Shooting,of
Chapter 609 of Waukee Municipal Code,Other Crimes,is hereby
amended by adding thereto an exception to that portion of the
section which prohibits the discharge of firearms within the
City,and by adding the prohibition of discharge of firearms
within 200 yards of a building inhabited by people or domestic
livestock or within 200 yards of a feedlot unless the owner
or tenant has given consent,and further providing a defini-
tion of "feedlot",so that Section 609.10,Throwing and
Shooting,will read as follows:
§609.l0 Throwing and Shooting.Any person who
throws stones or missiles of any kind,or who shoots
arrows,rubber guns,slingshots or air rifles,or
other dangerous instruments or toys on or into any
street,highway,alley,sidewalk or public place or
the property of another;or any person who dischar-
ges any firearm within the limits of the City of
Waukee,Iowa,is guilty of a violation of this
Section.Except,however,a person may,with the
consent of the owner or tenant,discharge a firearm
upon property within the limits of the City of
Waukee,Iowa,which has been zoned "A-l Agricultural
District"as provided in Chapter 300,Waukee Munici-
pal Code.
A person shall not discharge a firearm within
two hundred yards of a building inhabited by people
or domestic livestock,or within two hundred yards
of a feedlot,unless the owner or tenant has given
consent.As used in this Section,"feedlot"means
a lot,yard,corral,or other area in which live-
stock are present and confined for the purposes of
feeding and growth.The term does not include areas
which are used for the raising of crops or other
vegetation and upon which livestock are allowed to
graze or feed..

in summary,be received and filed at one meeting prior to the meeting

upon its final passage and adoption.The Mayor put the question on the
final passage and adoption of said Ordinance,and the roll being called,

Whereupon,the Mayor declared said Ordinance duly adopted and passed,
and signed his approval to said Ordinance.

The special meeting of the City Council was held December 4,1990 at
7:00 R.M.The meeting was called to order by Mayor Floyd W.Rosenkranz.
The roll call was taken and the following councilmen were present:Bailey,
Barrett,Clark and Scott.Absent:Gruber.
Moved by Scott,second by Clark to formally delete sections 21 and
28 of Walnut Township from the involuntary annexation petition as on file
with the City Development Board.Carried 4 to O.
Moved by Barrett,second by Scott to send letters to Mayor E.J.Giovannetti,
and Mayor O.Gene Maddox regarding a possible annexation moratorium
agreement between Clive,Urbandale,and Waukee.Carried 4 to O.
Moved by Clark,second by Bailey to authorize the City Attorney to take
such action in court as may be deemed appropriate to further the interests
of the City in regards to its annexation petitions.Carried 4 to O.
