HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-05-20-Special Minutes1 May 20,1991 The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order at 7:30 P.M.by Mayor Floyd W.Rosenkranz.Brian J.Redshaw was present and taking minutes. A roll call was taken and the following Councilmen were present:Bailey, Barrett,Gruber.Absent:Clark and Scott. Guests present were: Gruber,Steve Venard, Bob Christianson,Jim Steve Pierce-Veenstra & John Thorne,Ron Olson, Murphy,Ed Bodine. Kimm,Linda Petersen,Mark Tom McClure,Dan McKinney, Mark Gruber spoke to the City Council regarding a proposed rezoning for a lot adjacent to the Olson Brothers. Curtis Scott and Ray Clark arrived at 7:35 P.M. Dan McKinney of 650-2nd Street spoke to the City Council regarding a proposed parking lot north of his house.This property is zoned R-2 and would be considered a non-conforming use. John Thorne representing the Boy Scouts requested a fire ring for the park. Moved by Bailey,second by Clark,to approve the location of a fire ring in the SE corner of the park.This will be built and maintained by the Waukee Boy Scouts.Motion carried 5 to O. A public hearing was held for the rezoning of Steve Grubbs property from A-I to C-l.This property is located at the NW corner of University Ave. and Boone Drive.Mrs.Gary White and Mr.and Mrs.Tom Griffiths made comments at the hearing. Councilman Clark introduced an Ordinance entitled:"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF WAUKEE,IOWA, FROM A-I (AGRICULTURAL)TO C-l (COMMUNITY COMMERCIAL DISTRICT)FOR USE OF A NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL CENTER AND PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP AND THE REPUBLICATION OF SAID MAP TO REFLECT SAID ZONING CHANGES." It was moved by Councilman Gruber,and seconded by Councilman Barrett, that the Ordinance entitled:"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF WAUKEE,IOWA,FROM A-I (AGRICULTURAL) TO C-l (COMMUNITY COMMERCIAL DISTRICT)FOR USE OF A NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL CENTER AND PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP AND THE REPUBLICATION OF SAID MAP TO REFLECT SAID ZONING CHANGES."be now read by the City Clerk.The Mayor put the question on the motion,and the roll being caleld,the following named Councilmen voted: Ayes: Nays: Bailey,Barrett,Clark,Gruber,Scott None Recorded Whereupon,the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. Dianna Van Zee would go from $7.35 to 8.00 in July. There would be a quarterly review on probationary employees and an annual review on permanent employees.Moved by Scott,second by Gruber,to receive applications until June 3,1991 for FY 91-92 receptionist position. Carried 5 to O. The stone sculptures would be moved from 2nd and Ashworth Drive to the Northwest corner of the Waukee Park.The City Clerk was asked to contact Dennis McKinney for his assistance in this matter. Moved by Barrett,second by Clark to offer $1500 to Dennis Felt of 950-3rd Street by May 24th.Carried 4 to 1.Scott voting no. Moved by Scott,second by Gruber to approve the purchase of $15,000 for City Hall office furniture from Storey Kenworthy to be purchased out of the FY 90-91 budget.Motioned carried 5 to O. After due consideration and discussion,Council Member Clark introduced and moved the adoption of the resolution next herein set out,the same being a resolution approving executed contract and performance and/or payment bonds for the 1990 Industrial Park Utility Improvements,Contract 2 -Sewers,Left Station,Force Main and Water Main Project.The motion was seconded by Council Member Gruber and passed with record vote as follows: Ayes:Bailey,Barrett,Clark,Gruber,Scott Nays:None Recorded.
