The August 4,1995 Special Council Meeting was called to order at
7:30 PM by Mayor Chedester with Kurt A.Rueckel taking minutes.
Roll call was taken with the following members present:Gruber,
Bailey,Lihs,Chedester.Absent:Strain.
ADDED ITEM 4A -CITIZEN COMPLAINT.
PETITION FOR INVOLUNTARY ANNEXATION
Attorney Paul Buscher briefed the City Council on Clive's
Annexation petition and the issues of the islands it will create.
The City Attorney also briefed the Council on the City of
Waukee's petition as well.
After a brief discussion,Councilman Gruber made a motion to have
the City Attorney publish the notice for involuntary annexation
and to send certified notices to the required property owners,
and to have a special council meeting on Thursday,August 17,
1995 at 7:00 PM.,seconded by Bailey.Upon roll call the
following members voted AYE:Gruber Bailey,Lihs.NAYS:none.
The Council discussed the 330'section taken out of the petition,
and how the city could to serve this area that is part of the
petition.After further discussion a motion was made by
Councilman Gruber,seconded by Lihs,to have Paul Buscher,Bob
Veenstra and Kurt meet with representatives of Knapp properties
next week.Upon roll call,the following members voted AYE:
Gruber,Lihs,Bailey.
The City Council then discussed a citizen complaint against one
of the city employees.Kurt Rueckel and Paul Buscher were
directed to look into the matter.
A motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Bailey,Jr.at 8:30
PM,seconded by Lihs.Upon voice vote,the motion passed 3-0.
