Bailey,Jr. AGENDA ITEM #2:ROLL CAlL:Roll was taken and the following Council members were present:Johnson,Watts,Gruber,and Peard .Absent:Berger.Also present from the Comprehensive Plan Committee:Robert Ellis,Mel Willits,Steve Schmiedt,Joe Schmidt,Rene Herr,Linda Foltz,Jerry Crow,Larry Lyon,Steve Hobbs,Karen McClusky,Judy Fischer,Russ Wiesley,Barbara Hanson,Jerry Steele,and Frank Hoifeldt. MAJOR CONCEPTS •Heart of Community •Transit /Pedestrian Oriented Town Center •Concentric Growth Around Center •A "Garden City" •Connecting Trail and Open Space System •"Waukee Parkway"Loop •Collector and Arterial Street Continuity •Wastewater Treatment Downstream •Historic Triangle c.Vote by Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee on proposed Waukee Centennial Park/School Recreation Complex.Councilman Johnson explained the conceptual plan for the City Park /Sport Complex and there was significant discussion both pro and con.The Comprehensive Plan Committee voted overwhelmingly to pass the conceptual plan for the City Park /Sport Complex so the Council may proceed with the 28E Agreement with the School. AGENDA ITEM #4:SET DATES FOR FUTURE MEETINGS:The next Comprehensive Plan Meeting is set for September 28,2000 at 7:00 P.M.A flyer was passed around with future dates as follows: Week of October 23:Circulate Land Use,Transportation,Parks,and Infrastructure Plan Elements. Monday,November 13:Committee Review Meeting of Draft Plan Elements. Week of December 4:Circulate remaining Plan Elements:Triangle and Hickman Special Districts,Town Center Development Concept,Housing,Economic Development, Urban Design,Implementation. Monday,December 18 (if possible):Review Meeting of Entire Plan. Early January:Community Open House. February /March:Review and Approval Process.
