The January 15,2001 Waukee City Council Special Meeting was called to order at
7:00PM at City Hall by Mayor Donald L.Bailey,Jr.,1
Roll was taken and the following City Council members were present:Nick Gruber,
Marvin Berger,Wayne Johnson and Mike Watts.Councilman Bill Peard was absent.
RECElVEIFILE:Discuss Snow Removal Ordinance Enforcement -The Waukee City
Council addressed the snow removal ordinance enforcement and the associated fines.
Currently the Ordinance states that the fine for failure to shovel is not more than $50.
There is also a $25 court fee.The Council discussed having the fine increased upon
second and third violations of the Ordinance.The Council also discussed setting the fine
at a certain amount so people can mail their payment,instead of appearing before the
magistrate.
RECElVEIFILE:Meet with the Library Representatives Regarding Options for
Financing and Timing for Proposed New Library -Linda Mack and several members of
the library family were present to discuss the proposed new library.The City Staff
discussed different ways to finance the project and the City Council,along with the
library family,discussed potential referendum dates.The City Council asked City Staff
to continue reviewing the project and to provide a report at the January 22,2001 City
Council Meeting.
