SPECIAL MEETING
MAY 1,2002
Mayor Mark Leslie called the May 1 meeting of the Waukee City Council to order at
7:15PM.Roll call was taken.Mayor Leslie,and Council members Bill Peard,Wayne
Johnson and Nicholas Gruber were present.This meeting was held at 1735 Olson Drive
as part of a scheduled Neighborhood Watch meeting.Since a majority of Council
members were present,this meeting was designated as a City Council meeting.
Officer Troy Mapes began the meeting by indicating that the Police Department was
looking for additional McGmffHouses in the Indigo RidgelHawthome Ridge
neighborhood.He also discussed credit card fraud and ways to avoid being scammed.
Following this presentation,Mayor Leslie opened up the meeting to questions from
residents.A variety of subjects were discussed including door to door sales people,
economic development issues,when the bike path north of the subdivision would be
installed,when the park designation for this area would be developed and how to control
speeders along Olson Drive.Councilman Peard suggested that a copy of the solicitors
permit issued by the City along with an article on this issue be included the next Waukee
Taukee.
Following this general discussion,a motion was offered by Councihnan Gruber,
seconded by Councilman Peard to adjoum the meeting.Motion passed.Mayor Leslie
declared the meeting adjourned at 8:40PM.
