HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-11-21-Special MinutesWAUKEE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 21,2002 (1)Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor Leslie at 6:14 PM. (2)Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor Mark D.Leslie,and Council members Nicholas Gruber,Mike Watts and Wayne Johnson,Councilmen Bill Peard and Don Bailey.Jr.were absent. (3)Agenda Additions /Approval-Nick Gruber moved;Wayne Jolmson second to approve the agenda as written.Mr.J olmson wished to clarify that this resolution is approving the setting of the date of the public hearing and not approving the issuance of the bonds prior to the public hearing.Mayor Leslie concurred.Ayes:All Nays:None.Motion carried 3-0. (4)Resolution:Approving the issuance of not to exceed $9,500,000 aggregate principal amount of Private School Facility Revenue Bonds (Saint Francis of Assissi School Corporation Project)Series 2002,of the City of Waukee,Iowa,directing publication of a notice of intention to issue,calling a public hearing on the proposal to issue said Bond and authorizing execution of a Memorandum of Agreement Wayne Johnson moved to set the date of the public hearing for December 16,2002.Mike Watts second.Mark Arentsen introduced Darla Giese from the Dorsey &Whitney Law Firm,the City's bond counsel.Ms.Giese indicated that bond council reconnnended removing all references to the memorandum of agreement until after the public hearing at which time the resolution to approve the Private School Facility Revenue Bonds (Saint Francis of Assissi School Corporation Project)Series 2002,of the City of Waukee,Iowa would be approved or denied.Wayne Jolmson moved to amend his motion to include I)Striking the words:"and authorizing execution of a memorandum of agreement from the caption ofthe resolution;2)Striking the fifth recital in its entirety;3)Striking Section 3 in its entirety and renumbering the subsequent sections to reflect that exclusion;4)Striking the words "and the Memorandum of Agreement"from what is now Section 3;and 5)Striking Exhibit A from the resolution.Mike Watts amended his second to include these changes.Mr.Bill Lillis,counsel appearing on behalf of the Saint Francis Assissi School,indicated that they had no obj ections to the amendments proposed by city bond counsel and appreciated the opportunity to proceed with the school's request at the public hearing on December 16,2002.Roll call:Ayes:Jolmson,Watts,Gruber,Nays:None.Motion carried 3- O. At this time Mayor Leslie asked for a motion to adjourn.Mike Watts moved.Nick Gruber second,Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 3-0. Meeting Adjourned at 6:21 PM.
