JUNE 9,2003
(1)Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
by Mayor Oberman at 7:00 PM.
(2)Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor Tony Oberman,and
Council members Nicholas Gruber,Don Bailey,Mike Watts,and Darlene Stanton
present.Council member Bill Peard absent.

(3)Discussion:Discussion of material to be distributed in Washington,D.C.during
meeting with legislators and legislators'designees General discussion covered schedule
of activities,the logistics of the trip,prepared material for distribution while in
Washington and the possibility of procuring other grants or loans.The Council agreed
the priority for the trip was to meet with as many Iowa representatives as possible and to
meet with Iowa's senators.To that end items from the proposed agenda were either
eliminated or reduced in the amount of time allocated to them.The prepared material to
be presented to staffers and/or members of congress was reviewed and changes were
suggested.Other grant/loan possibilities and potentially hiring a lobbyist were discussed.
Members of the council requested a cover sheet /letter be attached to each packet -an
executive summary -identifying the goals of the City.Staff prepared a fact sheet
addressing most of what has occurred and what we are seeking.Cover sheet and fact
sheet will both be part of the package.
Mayor Oberman asked for a motion to adjourn.Nick Gruber moved.Mike Watts
second.Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 5-0.
Meeting Adjourned at 8:05 PM.
