HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-04-26-Special MinutesWAUKEE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES APRIL 26,2004 (1)Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor Oberman at 6:14 PM. (2)Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor Oberman,Council members Nicholas Gruber,Don Bailey,Jeff Mertz,Bill Peard,and Darlene Stanton. (3)Agenda Approval-Council member Stanton moved to approve the agenda.Council member Peard seconded.Roll call:Ayes:Stanton,Peard,Bailey,Gruber,Mertz.Nays: None.Motion carried 5 -O. (4)Resolntion:Approving Site Plan for Waukee Professional Plaza II Council member Bailey moved to approve the Site Plan.Council member Gruber seconded. Greg Judas,KC Holdings,5515 NW88th Street,discussed (1)the enclosed trash collector and indicated he would be willing to work with the city so that both buildings would benefit from the joint use of one trash collector;(2)the Hadco Pro filer fixture,which will provide downcast light on three sides to flood the parking lot and prevent stray ambient light from reaching the street or the townhomes to the west of the property.The building will be softly lit by can lights in the soffit;(3)Entranceway will be on the east side with a small jog at the comer of the building.Entryway from Laurel on the south west or from the west was viewed as creating more congestion than necessary on Laurel and on the street to the west of Profession Plaza I;(4)HVAC Unit is to be centralized and placed in the rear of the building with shrubs or PVC four foot fence to create a shield.Further discussion included Development Agreement with KC Holdings;the request by council to construct a berm two foot higher than the current elevation on the west side;and council also asked the developer also add shrubs and plantings.Jerry Meyer,President of the Liberty Park Townhome Owners Association was present.Mr.Bailey amended his motion to include a berm on the west side which was to be 2 feet higher than the elevation measurement of 1029 and to include additional shrubs and plantings.Mr. Gruber seconded the motion with the caution that the proposal is to be met with the engineer's approval or be modified.Mr.Bailey agreed with this modification.Roll call on the motion as amended:Ayes:Bailey,Gruber,Stanton,Peard,Mertz.Nays:None. Motion carried 5 -O. The council discussed other issues including Hawthorne fudge,Riekes Manufacturing, Hickman Road street lights,joint P&Z meeting dates Mayor Oberman asked for a motion to adjourn.Nick Gruber moved.Darlene Stanton second.Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 5-0.
