SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 21,2004
(1)Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
by Mayor Oberman at 6:30 PM.
(2)Roll Call-The following members were present:Tony Oberman;Mayor,and
Council members Nicholas Gruber,JeffV.Mertz and Darlene Stanton.Council
members Bill Peard and Don Bailey,Jr.absent.
(4)Discussion:Presentation for future purchase of ladder truck and viewing of ladder
truck outside city hall The ladder truck committee consisting of Rob Van Pelt,Clint
Robinson,Mark Schmitt,Dan Wood,Brad Barron,Matt Howell,Kurt Steinke and Chief
Terry Sesker were present.Volunteer Firemen Clint Robinson and Matt Howell
presented Powerpoint presentation discussing the need for a ladder truck based on the
size of commercial and residential buildings now being built in Waukee,case studies of
recent fires and of response times by a West Des Moines ladder truck,ISO commitment
to reduced rating,if the city were to purchase a ladder truck and the cost,new vs.used,of
ladder trucks.A used fire truck brought to Waukee by Kevin Deaton of American
Lafrance was in the parking lot for viewing.
Mayor Oberman adjourned the meeting at 6:55PM.
