SPECIAL MEETING
OCTOBER 22,2004
(1)Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
by Mayor Oberman at 5:45 PM.
(2)Roll Call-The following members were present:Tony Oberman,Mayor,and
Council members Nicholas Gruber,JeffY.Mertz and Bill Peard.Council members
Bailey and Stanton absent.
(3)Agenda Approval-No changes.Nick Gruber moved;Jeff Mertz second to approve
the agenda as written.Ayes:Gruber,Mertz,Peard.Nays:None.Absent:Bailey,
Stanton.Motion carried 3 -0 -2.
(4)Resolution:Approving Site Plan for IA Methodist Medical Center Marty Barkley
of Simonson &Associates,presented the latest design for the Medical Center to be
located on the SE comer of Warrior Lane and Hickman Road.The Council was pleased
with the improvements made on the set of plans revised 10/22/04 and received by the
Council immediately prior to the meeting.All council members approved the curved
front on the building and appreciated the changes in elevations to the building.However,
two of the three members wanted the building to blend in a little more with the
surrounding buildings already located in the area and requested a pitched roofbe
included on the north end of the building as shown in earlier renderings.Because a vote
approving the Site Plan as presented would have been defeated,Iowa Methodist Clinic
Representative Torn Keifer requested the council vote to approve a site plan including the
changes the Council members would be willing to accept.Nick Gruber moved (I)the
curved front be maintained;(2)a pitched roofbe included;(3)the entry feature including
the pitched roofbe maintained;and (4)the revised south elevation showing more relief
and the darker brick as shown on the building front.Bill Peard second.Roll call:Ayes:
Gruber,Peard,Mertz.Nays:None.Absent:Bailey and Stanton.Motion carried 3 -0 -
2.
At the close of discussion,Mayor Oberman asked for a motion to adjourn.Nick Gruber
moved.Bill Peard second.Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 3 -O.
Meeting Adjourned at 6:05 PM.
