SPECIAL MEETING
MAY 23,2005
(1)Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order
by Mayor Oberman at 7:00 PM.
(2)Roll Call-The following members were present:Tony Oberman,Mayor,and
Council members Nicholas Gruber,Donald Bailey,Jr.,JeffV.Mertz,and Darlene
Stanton.Council member Bill Peard absent.
(3)Agenda Approval-No changes.Nick Gruber moved;Darlene Stanton second to
approve the agenda as written.Ayes:Gruber,Stanton,Bailey,Mertz,Nays:None.
Motion carried 4-0.
Bill Peard present at 7 :05 PM.
(4)Interviewing Cadidates for the position of City Attorney:Nyemaster,Dickinson
and Brick Law Firms were interviewed Council interviewed each finn for one hour.
Candidates were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and explain the overall
operation of their finn.Then each finn was asked the same previously prepared
questions,most of which were based on three scenarios -re-zoning issue,hiring a fire
chief and stopping a vehicle for speeding.The hour was completed with additional
questions being asked by the Council,City Attomey Paul Huscher or Staff.
Council briefly discussed the interviews and will continue the discussion during the May
25,2005 Council Special Meeting.
Mayor Oberman asked for a motion to adjoum.Nick Gruber moved.Jeff Mertz second.
Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 5 -O.
Meeting Adjourned at 10:15 PM.
