(A)Call to Order -The regular meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by
Mayor Peard at 7:39 p.m.in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
(B)Pledge of Allegiance
(C)Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor William F.Peard;Council
Members Don L.Bailey,Jr.;C.Isaiah McGee;JeffV.Mertz;Darlene Stanton;Mike
Watts.Absent:None.
(D)Open Forum.
(E)Agenda Approval -Motion by Council Member Stanton,seconded by Council Member
McGee,to approve the agenda,moving consideration of items #Jll and Jl2 after
consideration of item #J23 and removing items #J25 and J26.Roll call:Ayes:Stanton,
McGee,Bailey,Mertz,Watts.Nays:None.Motion carried 5 -O.
(F)Mayor's Report -Mayor Peard wished all a happy new year and stated how he looked
forward to 2007.He and certain City staff attended a meeting with the City of West Des
Moines on January 2 to discuss the I-SO/Alice's Rd.interchange project;the city
administrators for Waukee and West Des Moines will issue a joint letter on the project and
the two cities will be working together to plan the Alice's Rd.corridor extension south ofl-
SO.On January 5,Mayor Peard attended a meeting with the City of Adel regarding Project
Destiny and annexation issues,and had attended the Greater Des Moines Partnership
legislative reception prior to the evening's City Council meeting.

(H)Public Hearings:
1)To consider a proposal to sell city-owned property at 14705 SE University Avenue
pursuant to Iowa Code §364.7 -Mayor Peard opened the public hearing and asked if any
written correspondence had been received;City Administrator Kooistra replied in the
negative.Mayor Peard asked if anyone present wished to address the Council on the issue;
no one present addressed the Council.Mayor Peard declared the public hearing closed.

1)RESOLUTION:Consideration of approval of the sale of city-owned property at
14705 SE University Avenue -Motion by Council Member Stanton,seconded by Council
Member McGee,to approve the resolution and accept the bid of$10,100.00 from Troy A.

13)Resolution:Consideration of approval of the site plan for Waukee Middle School
Addition and Renovation -Motion by Council Member Stanton,seconded by Council
Member McGee,to approve the resolution.Director of Planning Deets gave a brief
overview of the proj ect and recommended that the site plan be approved with a 50-foot
right-of-way along Warrior Lane.City staff also recommends that metal facing and
roofing materials on the Waukee Middle School concession stand/batting facility remain
as constructed,rendering certain provisions within Resolution #05-120 respective to
additional improvements null and void.Council Member Stanton expressed concem
regarding buses crossing the center line of Warrior Lane while entering and leaving the
site.Bob Ridgway of Design Alliance addressed Council Member Stanton's concems,
stating that there will be right tums only both into and out ofthe driveway,minimizing
the number of buses crossing the center line.Council Member Mertz expressed concern
that the middle school entrance did not align with that of Immanuel Lutheran Church;
Mr.Ridgway explained that the future widening of Warrior Lane might make such
alignment unnecessary,Council Member Stanton amended the motion to approve the
resolution provided that the alignment ofthe driveways is studied again when planning
and design of the Warrior Lane widening takes place;Council Member McGee amended
