WORK SESSION MEETING
MARCH 24,2008
A)Call to Order -The work session meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor
Peard at 7:42 p.m.
B)Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor William F.Peard;Council Members Donald
L.Bailey,JI.;Casey L.Harvey;C.Isaiah McGee;Mike Watts.Absent:Council Member Darlene
Stanton.
Also present:City Administrator/Clerk Jeff Kooistra,Director of Community Development Jody T.
Gunderson,Director of Finance Linda Burkhart,Director of Public Works John Gibson,Assistant
Director of Public Works Tim Royer,Director of Planning Brad Deets,Deputy City Clerk Rebecca D.
Schuett.
C)Agenda Approval-Council Member McGee moved to approve the agenda,removing item #D3;
seconded by Council Member Harvey.Roll call:Ayes:McGee,Harvey,Watts,Bailey.Nays:None.
Absent:Stanton.Motion carried 4 -0 -I.
D)Work Session:
1)Carpooling options -City Administrator/Clerk Kooistra stated that a resident had suggested to
him that the City offer a way for commuters to carpool to work.MI.Kooistra suggested to the
Council that interested residents contact City Hall if interested in carpooling,and that the City
Hall parking lot be used as a pick-up/drop-off point for carpoolers.Council Member Harvey
asked if such action presented any possible liability for the city;MI.Kooistra replied in the
negative.
2)City Hall remodeling -City Administrator/Clerk Kooistra gave a brief overview of a suggested
remodeling plan drafted by Director of Planning Deets,including a cost analysis.MI.Kooistra
clarified that City staff was still in discussions with the Waukee Community School District
regarding Waukee Elementary School,and that the suggested remodeling plan was proposed to
address anticipated needs for the next few years.MI.Kooistra requested the Council review the
suggested remodeling plan for discussion at a later date.

Adjournment -Council Member McGee moved to adjourn;seconded by Council Member Harvey.
Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 4 -0 -1.
