(B)Pledge of Allegiance (C)Roll Call -The following members were present:Mayor William F.Peard;Council Members Shane Blanchard,Dan Dutcher,Casey L.Harvey,Darlene Stanton.Absent:Council Member Mike Watts. Also present:City Administrator/Clerk Jeffrey L.Kooistra,Assistant to the City Administrator McKinlee Gibson,Director of Finance Linda Burkhart,Director of Public Works John Gibson, Assistant Director of Public Works Tim Royer,Director of Development Services Brad Deets, City Planner Ben Landhauser,Deputy City Clerk Rebecca D.Schuett,City Attorney Steve Brick. (D)Open Forum -John Rinehart,55 Bel Aire Dr.,expressed his frustration with designated parade routes,stating that he and his neighbors are unable to easily access their homes during parades.He suggested altering the route in order to allow traffic on Warrior Lane.Director of Public Works Gibson noted that City staff were not aware of any issues and would investigate possible alternate parade routes.Mr.Rinehart clarified that he'd brought up the matter with individual council members over the past several years,but had not spoken at a council meeting.Council Members Harvey and Stanton said that they personally had not been approached by Mr.Rinehart on the matter,but that alternate parade routes should be investigated. (F)Mayor's Report -Mayor Peard had lunch with outgoing City of West Des Moines Manager Jeff Pomeranz on 09/17.On 09/22-09/24,he will attend the Iowa League of Cities conference in Coralville with Council Member Dutcher,City Administrator/Clerk Kooistra and Director of Public Works Gibson.Last Wednesday,he had a lunch meeting with Waukee Community School District Superintendent David Wilkerson and Deb Calvert of MidAmerican Energy to discuss WEDCO and city-school issues.At that meeting,he and Dr.Wilkerson also discussed traffic issues at the new Waukee Elementary School and possible solutions to those issues.Mayor Peard noted that the MPO recently approved traffic modeling numbers and that the City of Waukee can now move forward with an IJR report for the Alice's Road/105lh Sl.interchange on- ramps.On 10/04,he will appear on the Iowa Realty homebuyers show to discuss the advantages of living in Waukee.
