SPECIAL MEETING
August 28,2012
A)Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor
Peard at 3:10 p.m.in the Waukee City Council Chambers.
B)Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor William F.Peard;Council Members Shane
Blanchard,Dan Dutcher,Casey L.Harvey,Shelly Hughes.Absent:Council Member Mike Watts.
Also in attendance:Interim City Administrator Brad Deets,Director of Finance Linda Burkhart.
C)Agenda Approval -Council Member Blanchard moved to approve the agenda;seconded by
Council Member Harvey.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Dutcher,Harvey,Hughes.Nays:None.
Absent:Watts.Motion carried 4 -0 -1.
0)Interview:The Mercer Group,Inc.(3:00-4:00 p.m.)-The City Council interviewed Gary Goddard
of The Mercer Group,Inc.
E)Interview:Slavin Management Consultants (4:30-5:30 p.m.)-The City Council interviewed Paul
Wen bert of Slavin Management Consultants.
F)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving directing City staff in the
negotiation of contract terms with a professional consultant for the City Administrator/Clerk
search -After much discussion,Council Member Dutcher moved to approve the resolution directing
staff to negotiate contract terms with Slavin Management Consultants;seconded by Council
Member Harvey.Results of vote:Ayes:Dutcher,Harvey,Hughes.Nays:Blanchard.Absent:
Watts.Motion carried 3 -1 -1.(Resolution #12-190)
G)Comments
Adjournment -Council Member Dutcher moved to adjourn;seconded by Council Member Harvey.
Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 4 -O.
